Actress Sumona Chakravarti continues to be known as Kapil Ki Biwi even after playing Mashoor Gulati's (Sunil Grover) daughter in The Kapil Sharma Show. Constant rumours of the actress quitting the show have been doing the rounds as she is reportedly not happy with her role. We hear that she may also tie the knot with her filmmaker beau and family friend Samrat Mukherjee in December. In a candid chat, Sumona clears the air:

You have been missing from The Kapil Sharma Show for many weeks now. Why?
I don't know. We have shot many gags and there are many of my episodes in the bank. I had also gone to Switzerland, so I missed quite a few episodes when Salman Khan and other celebrities were on the show. When they will air my slot is a call the creative guys will take. I just love my work and don't think of anything else.

But we haven't seen you on the show regularly, unlike in Comedy Nights with Kapil. Are they planning to introduce a love interest for Kapil?
That's a question you should ask Kapil Sharma. I am just a part of the team and I follow the script. I don't get into that aspect of how much air time they are slotting for me. I have been working for the last 10 years and I got my due very late in this industry, but all this does not bother me. Anyway, I am not a Salman Khan or a Shah Rukh Khan who can control the creative part of an episode. I am not aware if they are introducing a new love interest; people should understand that I am not involved in the decision-making process.

What do you have to say about the recent Kapil Sharma controversy around his tweets on corruption in the BMC?

Do you enjoy being recognised as Kapil Ki Biwi?
Yes, why not? But audiences will not attach me to that name forever. Earlier, I was known as Ram (Kapoor) ki bahen and now, Kapil ki biwi. At the end of the day, it's your work that people acknowledge you for.

Would you promote a film on any rival stand-up comedy show?
Even if I was not a part of Kapil's team, I will still promote my film on his show. Kapil is an exceptionally talented, down-to-earth guy who respects everyone. The way he treats the spot boy to the way he conducts himself with Bollywood celebs, he is really a very good guy. So there is no question of me going on any other show. And I have never watched Comedy Nights Bachao. I don't watch TV at all.

Sources confirm that you are getting married to Samrat Mukherjee in December. Is it true?
Why don't you all wait till December to see if I am getting married? No, I am not getting married and don't wish to. Why can't people see a single, independent woman live her life happily? If at all I decide to get married, why will it be a secret? Samrat is a great friend and I just bump into him during Durga puja festivities. Yes, he has a house here in Santacruz where I meet him and we catch up on each other's lives but that's it. Otherwise, we are too busy to even meet each other. I believe in 'que sera sera', so if marriage is meant to happen, it will happen. If you ask me, I would be happy in a companionship with a man. Everything does not have to culminate in marriage.
