Shabana Azmi and filmmaker Aparna Sen, who have teamed up thrice in the past, are all set to be reunited for the fourth time; this time for an English-language film entitled Sonata. Shabana confirms and adds, “I’ll be attending workshops in Kolkata, September 19 onwards. We have the most amazing tuning and communicate on sets without having to speak to each other.” Sonata will be a crucial film for Aparna Sen, as her last film Arshinagar in Bengali was failure. Incidentally, Aparna Sen and her protégé, the late Rituparno Ghosh, harboured a life-long fascination for Ingmar Bergman’s immortal classic, Autumn Sonata. Rituparno paid a homage to his favourite film in Unnishe April, which coincidentally, starred Aparna Sen.
