On Saturday, September 17, Shabana Azmi entered the Zee TV show, Ek Maa Jo Laakhon Ke Liye Bani Amma, which had taken a generation leap.

A day later, she leaped into a new year, ringing in her 66th birthday. Her new co-stars and the show's makers were ready for the occasion with a cake for her to cut. And the actress admitted she was touched.

That wasn't the only cake she cut though. Aamir Khan and his team had ordered one too which was presented after the preview show of his upcoming film Dangal she had driven down from Khandala to watch.

"We were at out Khandala home, Sukoon, to celebrate a friend's 60th birthday over two days with 21 guests," she elaborated, adding that the celebrations weren't over yet.

"I returned home to find 18 of my closest friends waiting for me. My best friend Parna had cooked a delicious Thai meal and I gorged on it like a pig, I've been on a diet for Aparna's (Sen) film, Sonata, and I broke it that day, guilt-free. It was a hectic but lovely birthday," she beamed.
