Father and son may not have budged from their Republic Day clash with the superstar next year, but take the moral high ground by moving their scheduled Christmas 2018 release date, preventing another clash with Shah Rukh

When Rakesh Roshan excitedly announced the release date of Krrish 4 as Christmas 2018 he wasn’t aware that Aanand L Rai’s Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Bandhua was also scheduled for the same week. On realising it, they quickly moved their film from that weekend.

Rakesh’s son Hrithik explains the move. “I guess dad felt it wrong to usurp a date that another colleague had already announced.” It’s a pointed barb at SRK, who scheduled his film Raees for a Republic Day release knowing fully well that Hrithik’s home production Kaabil was announced long before.

Doesn’t Hrithik see a contradiction in this? The actor shrugs, “I can’t judge other people’s ethics. I must travel my own path guided by values instilled in me and allow others to travel theirs.” And for the first time, he admits that Raees and Kaabil releasing on the same Friday would damage both films. “Both films will suffer a little. But both can also do well enough if the content is good. If it’s in your destiny to succeed, nobody can take it away. Likewise, with failure.”
