AKIRA crashed on its eighth day to add to the flop list of 2016. This was on the cards as occupancy was so low on the weekdays but still it could have worked its way to around 30 crore nett but that is impossible now after the huge crash. The drop in collections is in the 90-95% range on the eighth day and the collections will in the 30 lakh nett range. The final Mumbai number can take it a bit higher but a few lakhs will not change the scenario. The film will stay below JAI GANGAAJAL and just about edge past SARBJIT but that film had better holds because of its North India business.
The Hollywood release DON'T BREATHE has also taken a hit in collections in the second week as it has fallen 60% from day one and those were low levels. The plus for this film is that it has occupancy than last week as the screens have been reduced. The film grossed around 25 lakhs nett taking its total to around 5.50 crore nett.
The new releases BAAR BAAR DEKHO and FREAKY ALI may not have made much impact on day one but they have stopped the run of HAPPY BHAG JAYEGI and RUSTOM. HAPPY BHAG JAYEGI may get up to around to 10 lakh nett on its fourth Friday while RUSTOM will be a couple of lakhs which means it will end at around 125 crore nett.
