We are aware that Vishal Bhardwaj is a visionary director who believes in transporting his audiences into the world of his stories. He meticulously crafts every detail in the look of his films to build authenticity. Having given Indian cinema masterpieces like Maqbool, Kaminey, Omkara, Haider - National Award winner Vishal Bhardwaj has now set the expectations soaring high for his upcoming period drama - Rangoon. Set in the era of the 1940's amidst the turmoil of India's war for independence, the film will witness some epic battle scenes and historic references. Starring Shahid Kapoor, Kangana Ranaut and Saif Ali Khan - Rangoon promises the mastery of never seen before and compelling storytelling.
The film wrapped its final shoot schedule a couple of weeks back and entire team including Vishal, Sajid Nadiadwala and Ajit Andhare - COO, Viacom18 Motion Pictures are delighted with the results. Sajid Nadiadwala whose production house Nadiadwala Grandson has delivered some of the biggest hits in Indian Cinema, is know for his passion for ensuring the best quality in every element of a film that he produces, felt that no stone should be left unturned to make this film a benchmark. Sajid wants to get the best VFX technicians from around the world to work on it.
Ajit Andhare of Viacom18 Motion Pictures which has created some of the most appreciated cinema content in recent times felt that this is a film that would define the 'epic love story' genre and given the post production detail suggested that that the film should be released on February 24, 2017.
Elaborating on the same, Vishal Bhardwaj said, "I am very happy with what we have achieved during the shooting of Rangoon. This film is closest to my heart and I want to make sure this is seen as my best work ever. When we suggested Feb 24th as the release date - Kangana was very excited as she is sentimentally attached to February given the exceptional response to Tanu Weds Manu which had released in the same period and was also produced by Viacom18 Motion Pictures. Given that it's Shahid's birthday on 25th February, there is no better way to celebrate." He further added, "For Saif and me, Rangoon has been even more special since it's been ten years since Omkara and an interesting experience working together again after a full decade."
Seeing the confidence and excitement in the team of Rangoon, looks like we have much to expect in early 2017.
