Mirror (April 2) had earlier reported that Alia Bhatt is playing a Bihari migrant who comes to Punjab and works as a labourer even as she harbours dreams of becoming a hockey player in Dedh Ishqiya director Abhishek Chaubey's next, Udta Punjab. Now, Mirror has learnt that Shahid Kapoor portrays a rockstar, who gets embroiled in a drugs controversy.

A source from the sets reveals that the 35-year-old actor has lost a lot of weight for the role. “The character is whacko and entertaining. There is one sequence in particular that Shahid's really excited about, an open-air concert with him performing atop a truck, shirtless. The song is a combination of trance music and Punjabi beats. He's shot other interesting concert sequences and had a blast in his rockstar avatar,“ said the source.

These sequences were filmed during a night schedule spanning four-five days on the outskirts of Amritsar to avoid mobbing by star-gazers. Shahid has blue and green highlights in his hair and tattoos on his arms and torso. The look has been modelled on some of the popular international rockstars and is sure to rock.
