A source close to the development points out that film is set in 2012 and Irrfan is playing an aam aadmi who loses his eight-year-old son in the bridge collapse after which he decides to fight against corruption and ensure that the victims' families get justice. Jimmy Shergill plays the director of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) who locks horns with Irrfan's character. "It's an emotional story about the trauma families of victims go through," adds the source.
Director Nishikant Kamat when contacted confirmed that Irrfan plays a common man, a somewhat mysterious character. "He's an emotional father and the Saki Naka incident leaves a deep impact. It's a sad coincidence that the flyover in Kolkata collapsed so close to our release. We are not trying to cash in on the incident to promote our film in any way. We sympathize with the affected families."
