Shahid and Kangana film a song at the Indo-China border for Vishal Bharadwaj's World War drama
Sanyukta Iyer (MUMBAI MIRROR; March 3, 2016)
The unit is currently filming Farah Khan's choreographed number "Ek Dooni Do" (Mirror, Febraury 12) at the Indo-China border. The song, set in the '40s, will be shown in black-and-white and shot in a single take. Kangana was spotted with a bob cut and dressed in a long red skirt for the shot, while Shahid sported a North-Eastern attire.
In an earlier interview with Mirror (May 27), Bhardwaj had revealed that Rangoon has been a dream he had nurtured for the last seven years. Describing the film as "Moulin Rouge meets Saving Private Ryan", he had confessed that this was his most expensive film to date since special attention has been paid to the backdrop.
"If you visit a cemetery in Imphal, Manipur, you will see the graves of so many young soldiers who lost their lives in the Second World War. And the dark irony is that Indians were killing Indians because some of these soldiers fought for the British army against Subhash Chandra Bose's Indian National Army in Rangoon," Vishal had explained just before his film rolled.
