NEERJA had a good first day in the metros grossing 4.50 crore nett approx. The film started slow but picked up pace through the day and was recording good occupancy by the evening in places like Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Chandigarh, Pune and Bangalore. The film was weak in many parts of the country but that is expected as its a content film with no face value. 

The business was best in North with East Punjab at over 50 lakhs nett and Delhi/UP at 1 crore nett apprx with a huge chunk of business coming from Delhi city and Noida. Mumbai circuit should settle in between 1.25-1.50 crore nett.

The film will grow on Saturday but it will be how much can it grow on Saturday. Last year PIKU grew 65% from a higher opening while TANU WEDS MANU RETURNS was 50% from a good start. A few films have even showed 80-100% growth but were collecting less than what NEERJA did.

Its likely the growth will come somewhere in the 30-80% range and if its in the upper end of the range the film is likely to have a good sustained run in the big cities at least.

LOVESHHUDA was well behind NEERJA on its first day as it grossed around 75 lakhs nett. It was far better than films like DIRECT ISHQ, ISHQ FOREVER and RHYTHM but the collections are very low. ISHQ FOREVER would be in the 10-15 lakh nett range while the other two could not collect

LOVESHHUDA can't really do much with such low collections. Even if it was to double up it will still be on the lower side and doubling up itself is a huge task as NEERJA is looking set for a good run.

Meanwhile, SANAM RE which had a reasonable first week came down badly on the eighth day. The film collected around 50 lakhs nett on its eighth day which is a drop of 85% and considering the low start its a huge drop. The multiplexes will be dominated by NEERJA and so its unlikley SANAM RE can show big growth. The film had a chance to pull through but this drop on day eight leaves it with no chance.
