Anil Kapoor, who doesn't look a day over 40, ushered in his 59th birthday with a star-studded bash that would put even the biggest award ceremonies out of business. Aamir Khan made a rare appearance, arriving hand-in-hand with wifey Kiran Rao, and was greeted with a bear hug from Salman Khan.

The Nawab of Pataudi Saif Ali Khan was accompanied by his begum, Kareena Kapoor, who shook a leg with the birthday boy. Meanwhile, Shah Rukh Khan, who couldn't make it to the party, shared on the social media, “Happy Birthday to my first friend in Mumbai and I know will always be till the end.“

The bash doubled up as a reunion of sorts when Subahsh Ghai grooved to “My Name is Lakhan“ with his Ram Lakhan jodi, Jackie Shroff and Anil. Shekhar Kapur, who had quipped at a recent film festival that he gave AK the finest film of his career, Mr India, exclaimed, “You haven't aged a day!“ And while the birthday boy's wife, Sunita, and younger daughter, Rhea, didn't venture out of the plush, four-storeyed bungalow, Sonam made a brief appearance at the entrance to greet actor cousin Mohit Marwah.

Known for their khaatirdari and khaana, the Kapoors laid out a sumptuous buffet. While Anil preferred light snacks over the birthday cake, best buds Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor did justice to the spread before proceeding to dominate the dance floor.

The highlight of the evening was Varun Dhawan, who tried to avoid being clicked with his date for the night, his long-time girlfriend, Natasha Dalal even as parents David and Karuna graciously posed for pictures on their way in.
