It was decidedly a fitting backdrop for another one of the Ambani's parties, thrown for their notoriously A-list guests, who filed in after taking in the opening ceremony of the 17th MAMI Mumbai Film Festival at the Gateway of India on Thursday.
While Sidharth Malhotra and Alia Bhatt were amusingly forthcoming when it came to canoodling recklessly and getting clicked together, it was Kangana Ranaut who caught our eye. She spent the entire evening diligently trying to keep out of rumoured flame Hrithik Roshan's way, choosing to stay close to Rishi Kapoor instead.
Meanwhile, Katrina Kaif was spotted breaking into a giggle with Alia as she wiped lipstick off the younger actress's cheek (whatever happened to air-kissing?), which was only interrupted by Aditya Roy Kapur, who kept Kat company at the party while beau Ranbir shoots in London.
Raveena Tandon, who gave the Festival opening ceremony a miss, was barely recognisable in her new, svelte frame as she sauntered in wearing an electric blue sari, while Masaan actress Richa Chadha looked striking in a black and gold Gaurav Gupta, even as Anurag Kashyap stayed close to his other Gangs of Wasseypur leading lady, Huma Qureshi.
AR Rahman and Resul Pookutty, walked in and out in a blink of an eye, while Anil Kapoor was a no-show, thanks to a 10 pm curfew introduced by his wife Sunita.
