Ram Gopal Varma went on a nostalgic trip and waxed eloquently about his
one-time muse and heroine Urmila Matondkar. On September 8, his film
Rangeela starring Urmila, Aamir Khan and Jackie Shroff completed 20
years and to mark the red-letter day, Ramu tweeted, “I have to confess
to all concerned that I was mesmerised with Urmila and her beauty. Her
face to her figure to her personality to her persona to everything else
about her was just divinity for me... She’s a painting and I was the
framemaker... But for a painting to be truly relished apart from the
frame containing it, it also needs a right place to be place and that
place was Rangeela...The only person I want to celebrate Rangeela after
all these years is the person who made it Rangeeli.” He goes on to say
that Urmila was the benchmark of a woman for him and he thanks her for
making his career and life richer by being in it! Phew! Now, that’s some
ode Ramu, but wonder if Urmila who he had cast aside in favour of
younger heroines for his later films is impressed.
