Late on Sunday, Shahid
Kapoor introduced his bride, Mira Rajput Kapoor, to his film
family. The handpicked guest list included the who's who of
Bollywood, from Li'l Miss Alia Bhatt to Amitabh Bachchan who was one of the
first guests to arrive. He was preceded by Prahlad Kakkar,
Tusshar Kapoor and Shahid's bestie, producer Madhu Mantena and his
designer wife Masaba Gupta. Amitabh Bachchan made an early exit but
several other starry entries followed, from Anil Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor to
Kangana Ranaut and Preity Zinta, from Ranveer Singh and Arjun
Kapoor to Shraddha Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, Dia Mirza and Genelia
D'Souza.
Shahid's favourite directors, from Vishal Bhardwaj, Vikramaditya Motwane and Vikas Bahl to Anurag Kashyap, Abbas-Mustan, Milan Luthria and Imtiaz Ali were also there, as were filmmakers Sajid Nadiadwala and Sidharth Roy Kapur, without biwi Vidya Balan. Kareena Kapoor too didn't show up, nor did her nawab.
The entire 37th floor of a central Mumbai five-star hotel was booked for the reception. Every detail, from the décor to the menu, was supervised by the newly weds who left to get dressed only after they were satisfied with the arrangements.
On one level guests mingled with each other, had a drink and a bite, on the second level, the couple met and greeted the guests.
“Shahid never left his bride's side or let go of her hand, personally introducing her to every one. Mira was charming, respectful and not overwhelmed in the company of stars,“ a guest told Mirror, adding that the groom was dapper in a three-piece suit designed by Kunal Rawal. Mira wore an ivory and blue lehenga designed by Manish Malhotra and jewellery by Nirav Modi. The banquet hall was decorated with flowers and lights, the spread was tasty vegetarian fare but there was no naach gaana. “Around 1.30 am, the party shifted to the club next door, and there everyone swung a leg to trance, electronica and Shahid's chartbusters,“ added the source.
