Adnan Sami’s version of the devotional qawaali Bhar Do Jholi for Bajrangi Bhaijaan has won the rare approval of Lata Mangeshkar herself. An ecstatic Adnan says, “I have just died and gone to heaven. Lataji called to tell me she liked my rendition of the qawaali. Coming from her, it was a pat on the back that I will cherish forever.” Adnan and Lata go back a long way. Recounts Adnan, “She has always been very warm and encouraging. I grew up hearing and seeing her idolised by my father. He couldn’t sleep until he heard Lataji’s lullaby Dheere Se Aaja Ri Ankhiyan Mein. When I came to India, my one wish was to meet her. And when she sang for me in another Salman Khan-starrer Lucky: No Time For Love in which I had the privilege of composing and singing a duet with her in it, I felt I had achieved the summit of my career. She has now praised me for another Salman Khan film.”

Adnan wants to show Lata his new film Bajrangi Bhaijaan. “She will love it. It’s all about the love between the people of India and Pakistan. And she knows she has as many millions of fans in Pakistan as she does in India.”
