The cast of Anthony D’Souza’s Azhar, the biopic on the life of cricketing icon Mohammed Azharuddin, gets more intriguing every week. After signing Emraan Hashmi in the title role, Prachi Desai as his first wife and Nargis Fakhri as his second wife, the film’s producers have now roped in Huma Qureshi to play another significant role.

It’s the role of a third female protagonist, apparently based on badminton player Jwala Gutta, who was to be played earlier by Nimrat Kaur.

Tabloids were abuzz some years ago with news of the cricketer’s friendship with the badminton champ. The role has apparently been modified to suit the script. And no, Huma won’t be shown playing badminton.

While Nimrat opted out for “date reasons” Huma has no such issues.
