Irrfan seems to have discovered his comic streak. After doing a series of dark roles, the actor is seen having a lot of fun in Shoojit Sircar’s Piku. And now, he has agreed to do a full-fledged comedy with Delhi Belly director Abhinay Deo.

When contacted, all Deo would share was that his film with Irrfan was “a dark comedy”. Irrfan elaborates, “It is in the same zone as Delhi Belly... irreverent and raunchy. I wanted to do something in the comic genre for a long time.”

Speaking of the comic element his character brings to Piku, the actor says, “It was a tricky tightrope situation. My character serves as balancing factor between the father (Amitabh Bachchan) and daughter (Deepika Padukone). There didn’t seem to be much I could do with the character, to begin with. If there is a fun element evident in the role, it’s because of the fabulous support I got from my two co-stars. We all had a ball doing this film.”
