After Ek Paheli Leela, choreographer-turned-producer
Ahmed Khan is set to start a road trip film that will span the length
and breadth of the country. He has already roped in Dolly Ki Doli
director Abhishek Dogra to helm the film and wants to cast Huma Qureshi
in the lead role.
Pre-production work has started on this film. About choosing Dogra, Khan says, “I loved the detailing to characters in Dolly Ki Doli and this film needed someone like him to flesh out the characters.”
Ahmed will shoot the film in India. “We have such great landscapes. From the Rann of Kutch to Kanyakumari, to the snow-capped mountains to the beautiful beaches, we have it all. Nobody has made a film that covers the length and breadth of our country; my film will do exactly that,” he says.
The ensemble cast will feature three boys and two girls. While casting has yet to begin, Ahmed and Abhishek are clear about what actors they want. “I want actors, not just established names. The five characters are very well etched-out. For one of the girls, Huma Qureshi would be perfect. She would be a great fit to play a biker girl as she has a pretty face and no one would be able to actually imagine her like that,” says Khan.
The film will go on the floors this year.
