As things stand, Raveena Tandon goes largely missing from Anurag Kashyap's Bombay Velvet. Originally, she had shot for a song that introduced the film's characters as the opening credits rolled. That song is now gone. Her second song also has been largely snipped and only a portion of it remains.
The film's length was a worrisome factor and BV's American editor Thelma Schoonmaker (who edits the films of Martin Scorcese) wanted all the songs to go.
Says a source close to the project, "BV is three hours long and had to be. It had to have a running time of close to two hours. So, Thelma suggested cutting out three of Anushka Sharma's songs and both of Raveena's tracks."
So now, Bombay Velvet will open with a big thanks to Raveena Tandon. Well, something is better than nothing!
