After
making a biopic on athlete-turned-dacoit Paan Singh Tomar, Tigmanshu
Dhulia has now found his muse in 'Tragedy Queen' Meena Kumari.
Mirror has learnt that the director, who is currently working on the Indian remake of the French film, Le Lyonnais (titled Yaara), will helm a film documenting the life of the yesteryear actress.
The film is an adaptation of journalist Vinod Mehta's book, Meena Kumar: The Classic Biography.
Tigmanshu is a self-confessed fan of the actress and modelled Mahie Gill's character in his Sahib, Biwi Aur Gangster series on Meena Kumari, an alcoholic who died at the age of 39.
Says a source close to the development, "Tigmanshu's been working on the idea for some time now. He has found the right source material in Mehta's book which has been widely praised by critics and fans. He will start work onthe film by the end of this year."
When contacted, Tigmanshu was non-committal. "I am definitely keen on making the film but at the moment nothing has been signed so I can't comment on the development."
Though Mehta remained unavailable for comment his wife confirmed that a film is being made on his book.
