After Dirty Politics, Mallika Sherawat is now ready for Ishq Uncensored. In Sandeep Singh's musical romance, she will play an aspiring actress who desperately wants to be famous and ends up falling in love with an idealistic theatre director, Sharman Joshi, who's her polar opposite. The film, which rolls in June, is a composite of four love stories bringing together four unlikely couples and never-seen-yet jodis on screen.

While Mallika and Sharman Joshi's prem kahaani will unfold in Mumbai, graphic designer Amit Sadh will woo an NRI NGO worker, Patralekhaa (of Citylights fame), in Delhi while singers Kalki Koechlin and Gulshan Devaiah will bond through a rock band in Kolkata. “The fourth story is set in Varanasi, with newcomer Ieshaan Sehgaal playing a tourist guide. We're still scouting for a new girl to play the college student opposite him,“ informs Sandeep. “Each is an independent story linked at the beginning and the end.“

Writer-director Anuradha Tiwari who's been working on the project for two years, off and on, admits that the quirky stories came out of real life and will show a different side to the cities she's lived and worked in. “You'll see Bandra Mumbai, culturati Delhi, South Kolkata and my home town Varanasi. Each city is a character in itself and will reflect my views,“ she says.

Sandeep plans to shoot in all the cities so the 60-day shoot will be divided according.“Fortunately, everyone who's read the script has loved it, from Mallika who's the most excited amongst all of us to Sanjay Leela Bhansali who wanted to produce the film after Bajirao Mastani. But Anuraadha was eager to get started so he entrusted me with the project,“ informs Sandeep who was earlier the CEO for SLB's production house. He insists that the first person he'll show the film to is Bhansali. “He's my guru, my mentor.“

And when does he plan to release the film? “I'd like to travel to the festivals first since both Mallika and Anuraadha are familiar faces on the circuit and the script is universally appealing,“ says Sandeep, adding with a smile, “There's something I haven't told you yet, Ishq Uncensored has 14 songs, ranging from ghazals, qawwalis and Sufi to rock, romance and even an item song.“
