Viacom18 Motion Pictures has had a successful run at the movies last year. Encompassing Bollywood and Hollywood, the production house offered an array of films from script-led films like Queen and Mary Kom to popular movies like Transformers - Age Of Extinction. Queen's clean sweep at the recent Filmfare Awards is testimony to the fact that the studio's content appeals not only to the masses but to critics as well. With its interesting narratives and marketing acumen, it has paved the way for differentiated cinema. If their film slate is anything to go by, the studio looks set to enthral the audience this year, too. Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Main Gabbar, an action drama that will have Akshay Kumar in an all-new avatar, will hit big screen on May 1. Its other big ticket offering is the Hindi remake of Drishyam, directed by Nishikant Kamath with Ajay Devgn in the lead. The film is expected to go on floors soon and will release by the end of this year.

Apart from offering big-ticket films, the production house also aims to cater to the discerning cinema-goer with content-driven movies. One of the prime examples is Margarita With A Straw that has already won acclaim in the international circuit with its TIFF & NETPAC Best Asian Film Awards world premiere, BFI London European premiere and BIFF Asian premiere. Kalki Koechlin has also won the Best Actress award at 18th Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival in Estonia.

Its other release, Dharam Sankat Mein builds upon the success of OMG - Oh My God. The satirical drama has Paresh Rawal in the lead along with Naseeruddin Shah and Annu Kapoor.

While its prequel resonated with the youth, Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 will take the battle of the sexes ahead. Shimla Mirchi, featuring Hema Malini, is another awaited film as it marks Ramesh Sippy's directorial comeback after 15 years. The studio will also produce Manjhi: The Mountain Man with Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the lead.

On the Hollywood front, the production house will be hosting two franchises - Terminator: Genisys, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Mission Impossible 5, starring Tom Cruise.

Ajit Andhare, COO, Viacom18, said, “Our choice of films is centred on content that the new India wants to watch. Our previous films like Kahaani, Gangs Of Wasseypur and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag are a part of new-age Indian cinema. We constantly strive to shape a new mainstream that doesn't see boxoffice success and acclaim as two different goalposts, but as one seamless outcome. While our releases of last year demonstrated this, our slate for 2015 too builds on this approach.“
