On Tuesday, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will return to the studio to face the movie camera for Sanjay Gupta's Jazbaa. She plays a lawyer in her comeback film.

The actress was last seen on screen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Guzaarish in 2010. She then shot for Madhur Bhandarkar's Heroine in June 2011 but her father-in-law, Amitabh Bachchan's Twitter announcement that she was four months pregnant, was followed by her exit from the project. Later, Kareena Kapoor stepped into her shoes.

An excited Sanjay Gupta, who had just returned from a recce in town on his new Triumph Thunderbird Storm, told Mirror, “My entire team, which includes the assistant directors, art director and cinematographer accompanied me on bikes. We zeroed in on places in Ballard Pier and Fort, including the Asiatic Library, where we plan to shoot over the next few weeks. But for the first few days we will be filming in a closed set to avoid curious stares and give Aishwarya the space she needs to get into her character.“

It will be a 9 am to 9 pm shoot on Tuesday. Keeping the actress company will be Irrfan Khan who has already started shooting for the film “The scenes between the two will be regular but since this is not a candy floss romance, they will be pretty intense, “ informs the filmmaker.

Sanjay has had combined readings with all his stars, including Shabana Azmi and Anupam Kher, along with one-on-one sessions during which he's taken them through the entire script, discussed the setting of scenes and nuances of character. So Aishwarya is well prepped for a role she has never enacted before.

Sanjay's been taking cues from Madhu Gadodia, the senior partner of his law film, Naik Naik & Co., as well as Nandini Mehta from J. Sagar Associates. “I interact with them regularly and have observed their body language, the way they talk about clients, cases and judgements. All this has been compiled into the research material given to Aishwarya. There is a lot of courtroom drama in the film and the information will come in handy,“ he points out.
