“Kuchh rishton ka namak hi doori hota hai Na milna bhi bahut zaroori hota hai...“ Lyricist Irshad Kamil, who is known for his songs in films like Rockstar, Love Aaj Kal and Raanjhanaa, has now penned his third book, a compilation of 31 poems. It will be launched in Delhi in the coming week by Irshad's frequent collaborators Imtiaz Ali and actor Ranbir Kapoor.

“Sometimes, you just feel like writing for yourself,“ Irshad says of his book. “I worked without any pressures of a film. Some words just came straight out of your heart. It is titled Ek Mahina Nazmo Ka,“ he explains.

Irshad reveals that the idea came to him after he met a few publishers at a literature festival. “I wanted to bring romance back to the youth write a book for them, about their lives, anxieties and emotions. I bounced off the idea to Imtiaz, who I'm working with in Tamasha. He really encouraged me to take it forward and here we are. In fact, when my first draft was ready, I sent it across to him before I sent it to my publishers,“ Irshad says.

He adds that the idea behind 31 poems was to give the reader, one to read every night before going to bed. “Romance has the power to change your life. And everyone can relates to poems. If you read one verse every night for a month, your thought process will change by the end of 31 days. Isn't that incredible,“ he exclaims.
