Shaan is happy with the
appreciation coming his way for his song Chaar Kadam from PK. He says,
“Frankly, I had not expected such a response. I got many
fan calls, but it's not everyday that people from the music fraternity
other composers and singers and also people from the industry call
you up and praise your work.“
Interestingly, while recording the number, the singer was skeptical
whether it would appeal to listeners. “However, the combo of Shantanu
Moitra and Swanand Kirkire worked very well,“ he smiles.
Shaan thinks that the romantic song stands out for its soft melody.“It's not one of those numbers with fast beats and loud lyrics. Warm, romantic love is what comes to your mind when you first listen to it. I think it's one of my best songs. In fact, I have memories of the bridge in Belgium, where they shot this song. We had been there on a family holiday a few years ago and had taken a lot of pictures of the bridge.“
Technically too, Chaar Kadam has an unusual composition. “It has a double octave, but the jump happens so smoothly that a regular listener can't register it.That is what makes this work,“ he concludes.
