PK had a very good first day of around 26 crore nett and was the second highest non holiday first day collection though it was more than 6 crore nett less than last years Christmas release DHOOM 3 though it had the potential to collect more as the multiplex release was wider with a higher average ticket price.
The best performance came in South India with both Nizam and Mysore putting up huge totals. In Mysore Aamir Khan is the biggest star so it is sort of expected. Mumbai was next best though Gujarat gave a low contribution for the circuit. Mass centre multiplexes and single screens saw good to avarahe business on day one.
The key for the film for that big total will be growth over the weekend at mass centres. Below is the approx first day territorial breakdown of PK.

| Mumbai | 8,58,00,000 | Delhi / UP | 4,41,00,000 |
