PK strong in China; heads for 700 Crore business worldwide

PK is on a huge run in China and has grossed more in China than in any other Overseas market and is still very strong. More important than going above any other market is that it is on the verge of becoming the highest grossing non local ope English film.
The highest ever is a Russian film STALINGRAD which has around $12 million and PK is sure to beat that by the end of business on Monday. The film is also set to cross the 700 crore Worldwide gross mark as it sits on 675 crore after nine days in China.
The daily business over the first nine days for PK in China is as follows. The film opened on 4600 screens.

The drop from the first weekend is likely to be around 35% and a $15 million total in China is certain which will take it over $40 million in Overseas and 700 crore Worldwide. The business in China also has chances of going close to $20 million.
PK's lifetime collections to settle at 337 cr

PK will finish at 337 crore nett as the film had its biggest fall in its sixth weekend with an 80% fall from the previous weekend and collections of around 50 lakhs nett taking the total to 336.25 crore nett.
The film will add another 50-75 lakhs nett in its lifetime run. The distributor share will be 165 crore beating DHOOM 3 by nearly 25 crore. The film has such extraordinary records in week two and week three that they could stand for a long time.

PK grossed around 4.25 crore nett in its fifth week to take its lifetime total close to around 336 crore nett. The fifth week total is the seventh highest of all time and since 2010 only AASHIQUI 2 has the higher fifth week total. 3 IDIOTS has the highest fifth week total of all time of 9.75 crore nett plus.
The drop in the fifth week is 66%. The film probably will add another 2 crore nett for a finish around the 338 crore nett. It will mean a 30% higher total than previous record holder DHOOM 3 though footfalls will only 7% more.
The multiplex business is extraordinary. PK is the first film to cross 200 crore nett from all India multiplexes as the final multiplex total is set for a huge 275 crore nett and distributor share of nearly 125 crore.

TEVAR grossed around 4.25 crore nett in week two taking its total to around 36 crore nett. FLOP

ALONE grossed a little over 17 crore nett in its first week. The weekend was low and weekdays held steady on low collections. There are two main releases today which will put and end to ALONE's run. The film may just squeeze past 20 crore nett but with the genre mainly depending on Indian theatrical for recovery it has no chance of recovery.
I, dubbed from the Tamil film of the same name, grossed 9.50 crore nett in Hindi which is also very poor. The film may end up at 11-12 crore nett but that is half the total of ROBOT that released in 2010.
CRAZY CUKKAD FAMILY and SHARAFAT GAYI TEL LENE were washouts with the formet being the better of the two.
PK becomes the first Hindi film to cross 600 crore (gross) worldwide

PK has finally hit the 600 crore mark worldwide after 32 days. It was evident that film will go past the 600 gross mark easily but the business slowed across the globe in the last ten days or so.
Still it has become the first film to cross 600 crore wordwide and beats the DHOOM 3 figure of 540 crore. The gross (GBOC) in India is 442 crore and Overseas the film has grossed 159 crore for a total of 601 crore. It is looking at a 610 crore Worldwide finish and could add more in Overseas later if it goes to other markets in the second phase.

PK grossed 2.50-2.75 crore nett in its fifth weekend and this take its lifetime total close to around 334 crore nett. The drop in business is a little less than last week. It is rare for a big release to go into the fifth week and be collecting in crores. The last time a wide release grossed over 1 crore nett in the fifth weekend was YAH JAWAANI HAI DEEWANI.
If the film trends the same way next week then it may reach 340 crore nett but BABY will be releasing so there is a possibility of a bigger fall.

TEVAR grossed around 80-90 lakhs nett on its eight day which is an 85% drop on the first day. The collections have dropped badly all over apart from UP where the the fall is less due to the tax exemption. The film should have a 3 crore nett plus weekend.
PK grossed around 60-65 lakhs nett on its fifth Friday which is a 60% drop on last week. The fact that the film is still collecting on the fifth Friday is an achievement in itself. The only films that managed to run well into week five in the last few years have been the ones that did not open well.

PK grossed around 12.25 crore nett in its fourth week to take its lifetime total to a huge 331 crore nett. It is the second highest fourth week ever after 3 IDIOTS which grossed 15.91 crore nett. The fourth week saw the first major drop in the run of PK as collections came down 70% from the previous week.
The film should be able to add another 5-7 crore nett for a final total around the 337 crore nett mark. The business in Mumbai stands at a huge 103 crore nett while Delhi/UP is a record 65 crore nett.

TEVAR grossed around 33.25 crore nett in its first week as it got a little help from the partial holidays in the weekdays. The best business has come in Delhi/UP where it has grossed around 7 crore nett as UP was tax free in the weekdays.
Overall the performance is poor as multiplexes did not collect well and single screens are also not as good as they should be for this type of film. Single screens in UP have average figures for the first week but that is due to the film being tax free, they were low on Friday and Saturday.
There are no major releases this week but a few a films are releasing and that coupled with a poor first week performance means a big drop of screen time and the film can't expect to go much higher than the 40 crore nett mark for lifetime business.

PK has grossed around 9.50 crore nett in four days of its fourth week and is looking at 12.50 crore nett fourth week which will be the second highest fourth week ever after 3 IDIOTS. 3 IDIOTS had grossed nearly 16 crore nett in its fourth week.
The next film on the list is BHAAG MILKHA BHAAG which grossed 8.39 crore nett in its fourth week making it the third best ever but the PK numbers will be around 50% higher. This is followed by films like GADAR and LAGE RAHO MUNNA BHAI.

TEVAR had a low Monday as it collected around 3.50 crore nett. The film has grossed 25 crore nett in four days and is looking at a first week of around 32-33 crore nett. The first four days collections are as follows.

The drop is around 50% from Friday but the film has been helped by a tax free status in UP where collections have held up well due to this. The drop in Delhi/UP on Monday is around 30-35% compared to much bigger drop in the rest of the country.

The film managed an average start at some places but the trnding was not good as the film failed to grow on Saturday and the growth on Sunday was not what it should be.
The producers have made good money as the film is not a big budget one but distributors will lose due a heavy price tag. On the budget of the film, a 21.25 crore nett weekend is not that bad

PK grossed around 1.75 crore nett on its fourth Friday and it is the first time that the film has seen a major drop since release. The start of the fourth week is below record pace but still it is only behind one film 3 IDIOTS. So its likely to record the second highest fourth week total ever adding to the record totals of week one, week two and week three.
The film should show a good jump on Saturday as that is what happens when an established film drops due to a new release. The film is now doing its best business in Delhi/UP which is collecting more than Mumbai circuit.
The film is likely to cross the 325 crore nett mark on Sunday and lifetime is expected to finish in the 335-340 crore nett range. The distributor share will be a huge 165 crore approx.

UGLY grossed 2.25 crore nett in week two which is poor but it did not drop much from the first week which grossed 3.25 crore nett. The trend was good with only a 30% drop but the film has very low numbers and is not going anywhere unless this trend continues for a few weeks which is unlikely. FLOP

PK grossed a little over 41 crore nett in its third week taking its three week total to a huge 319 crore nett. The film has set a new third week record by a margin beating the 30.50 crore nett of 3 Idiots. The third week total is bigger than most film's second week with only 4-5 films managing to over 40 crore nett in the second week.
The film has gone over 100 crore nett in Mumbai, over 60 crore nett in Delhi/UP and over 30 crore nett in East Punjab. These three circuits will be contributing over 200 crore nett by the end of its run.

PK grossed around 6.25 crore nett on its third Friday taking its total to over 283 crore nett. The film should hit the 300 crore nett mark before the end of business on Sunday.
There is a bigger drop in the third week than the second week as the third Friday has dropped around 56% from the previous one while the second Friday had dropped 45%. As the collections are lower there is a chance of higher jumps on weekdays. So a 25 crore nett third weekend is a possibility and with that a third week record will be assured.
The lifetime business of the film is looking to finish in the 330-340 crore nett range with a distributor share of 160-165 crore.

PK grossed a record 94.50 crore nett in week two taking its two week business to 276 crore nett. The second week business was around 30 crore nett higher that the previous record holder DHOOM 3. The film fell a little short of 100 crore nett in week two which would have been the sort of club that very few films will join. The film is looking to cross 300 crore nett before the end of the third week.
The second week collections were the highest ever in all circuits of India. The drop in week two was 48% with Delhi/UP and East Punjab showing an even better hold as collections dropped a little over 40%. The collections in Mumbai have crossed 90 crore nett.

The film had to struggle to find distributors for a release and after the results it was probably better it stayed in the cans as the release has turned out to be a waste of time and money. FLOP
