AFTER 5 FLOPS IN 5 WEEKS, ALL HOPES PINNED ON PK!
The final quarter of a year is considered most profitable, thanks to the biggies that release during the festive periods. Even the films that release in between the festival generally score big time. For instance, last year Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-leela and R…Rajkumar hit theatres between Diwali and Xmas and both worked. This year, a lot was expected from The Shaukeens, Kill Dil, Happy Ending, Ungli and Action Jackson. What’s more, all these films were solo releases and had enough time to recover their investment. Alas, all these films, that released after Diwali, flopped miserably. Action Jackson is better though than the rest but due to high costs, it might not turn out to be a huge grosser in the long run.
The industry is in shock and so is the distribution and exhibition sector. No wonder that all hopes are pinned on PK that releases next Friday. It’s the second collaboration of Aamir Khan-Rajkumar Hirani-Vidhu Vinod Chopra and their last outing 3 Idiots was a historic success. Hence, PK is also expected to be that film that would attract hordes of viewers. Let’s hope PK ends the dry run at the box office.
Meanwhile, the Hindi films that release tomorrow – Main Aur Mr Riight and Badlapur Boys – lack any buzz. In fact, the Hindi version of Rajinikanth-starrer Lingaa might attract more viewers.

DDLJ TURNS 1000!
December 12, 2014 will be a day that would be remembered for years. After all, this is the day when the longest running film ever, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, will complete 1000 weeks! The film is running since 1995 at Maratha Mandir in Mumbai; at present it is screened in the morning at 11:30 am and even today, it attracts people from all over, mainly due to its low rates (Balcony priced at Rs. 20, Executive at Rs 15 and DC at Rs 15). Many feel that the matter is fishy. Those who suspect are free to go to Maratha Mandir on any day and see for themselves that it’s all genuine. People still come to relive the magic and there are viewers who have seen the film almost 200-300 times and they are still not done!
The lead actors of the film – Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol – will be coming tomorrow to perform and interact with the viewers. Here’s hoping the film runs for many more thousands of weeks! It’s an incredible piece of cinema and definitely deserves it!
