In a bid to expand
children's film market in India and abroad, Children's Film Society of
India (CFSI) has organised the first edition of the National Children's
Film Festival (NCFF). Kickstarting on Children's Day (November 14), the
festival will be held for three days in Delhi. Seemaa Desai's Pappu Ki
Pugdandi will be the curtain-raiser, while Shortcut Safari, The Goal,
CFSI-produced Kummatti, Mahek Mirza, Krish Trish And Baltiboy 3 and Ek
Ajooba will also add to the kids' delight. The festival has also
incorporated Prime Minister Narendra Modi's endeavour on cleanliness and
kept 'Swachhata' as its central theme.
Bollywood A-listers like Amitabh Bachchan, Ajay Devgn and Sonakshi Sinha have extended their good wishes. Shravan Kumar, CEO, CFSI, says, “We're committed to create quality content in the children's segment, which would not only be insightful for children, but also encourage them to consider filmmaking as a career option. Our films have been recognised at the National Award ceremony and have travelled to international festivals.“
While their productions Gattu and Goopi Gawaiiya Bagha Bajaiyya were screened at film festivals in Berlin and Toronto respectively, Kaphal has won the National Award under The Best Children's Film category . The 18th International Children's Film Festival (ICFF, also known as The Golden Elephant) saw a record 894 entries from 75 countries and 123 Little Director entries.
