After Anil Kapoor bought the
US thriller, 24, to Indian shores, a channel is coming up
with a Hindi adapation of hit American TV series, Everybody
Loves Raymond. The sitcom ran in the US from 1996 to 2005.
Revealed a source close to the development: “One of the show's most prolific writers, Steve Skrovan, is in Mumbai. He is taking workshops with a bunch of Indian writers who will work on the desi adaptation that will go on air next year.“
The source added that the decision for a Hindi spin-off was triggered by the fact that the plot revolving around the misadventures of a large family, is something Indian audiences can easily connect with. The show's protagonist Raymond Barone (Ray Romano), a sports writer, lives with his wife and three children. His eccentric parents and older brother who are his neighbours frequently show up at his house.
The show won several Emmy Awards including an acknowledgement for Outstanding Comedy Series.
