Her husband, Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan is one of the most conscientious Indian citizens. He is usually the first to lead the voters’ brigade from the Hindi film industry when Mumbai goes to the ballots. However, since the actor is in New Delhi, shooting with Farhan Akhtar for a film, it was his MP-actress wife Jaya Bachchan and their son Abhishek Bachchan who rose and shone early at the local booth set up in Juhu for the Maharashtra Assembly elections.

Bollywood’s do-gooder Salman Khan wasn’t going to miss out on his good deed for the day. The star showed up in the early afternoon to cast his vote.

Aamir Khan, another regular with the voting ritual, was missing in action. His filmmaker wife Kiran Rao Khan turned up nattily dressed and showed off her inked finger. But the actor himself couldn’t be present in Mumbai, as he is in Cannes for a prior commitment. Kiran indicated that Aamir was deeply disappointed at not being able to vote, especially because he strongly believes in the process of democracy.

37-year-old Tusshar lost his virginity at the ballot this time. The star son explained that while his parents Jeetendra and Shobha were in Nepal, he had chosen to reschedule his flight to Bangkok for an outdoor shoot because he had to break the “jinx of so many years and start voting.“

Saif Ali Khan and his Begum Kareena flew out to Pataudi earlier this week for their second wedding anniversary (October 16) celebrations. And Ajay Devgn and wife Kajol were in Dubai for a prior family commitment.

The bad men turned out to be the good guys. Prem Chopra, Gulshan Grover and their ilk were the early birds spotted at booths across the city.

Till late noon, Rishi was the only one from the Kapoor khandaan spotted at the booth. Of course, son Ranbir followed his father's footsteps. Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar didn't disappoint and was there at a Bandra booth, nice and early. And Dream Girl Hema Malini flashed her incandescent smile and her index finger, accompanied by daughter Esha Deol.

Among the younger lot, Varun Dhawan kept his father, David, company. Arjun Kapoor made his vote count and attempted to leave discreetly but the cameramen proved adamant.

At the time of going to press, we were told that Priyanka Chopra would cast her vote at 5 in the evening. And we're assuming she must have done precisely that.
