Yesterday, choreographer-turned-director Farah Khan woke up to find an unflattering clip from a 1987 film, Saat Saal Baad, doing the rounds online. It featured her performing a break dance choreographed by Jaaved Jaaferi. It was directors, Soumik Sen and Sujoy Ghosh, who unearthed Farah's dark secret, which left her both amused and embarrassed.
"I want to find Soumik and Sujoy and hurt them really bad. Sujoy is in London and I've warned him to stay there!" Farah joked, when asked about the clip, which Abhishek Bachchan deemed "legendary" on Twitter.
She revealed that she had done the number almost 30 years ago when she was struggling to make it big in the industry. "I was part of a dance troupe which was called when fancy moves were required in a Bollywood film," she informs. "I was 21 years old at the time."
The film starred Sharmila Tagore and Suresh Oberoi and Farah agreed to shake a leg for Rs 3000. "It was a princely sum. How could I refuse?" exclaims the director.
In reply to the Tweeple who are comparing the video to her upcoming release, Happy New Year, she said with a chuckle, "Don't worry. I am not going to incorporate any of these dance moves in the film!"
