Karan Johar has put Shakun Batra's film about two author siblings on the backburner.
Mirror was the first to report that Shakun Batra, who made his directorial debut with Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu, will helm a film about two brothers, writers living in a hill station, for Karan Johar (March 11, 2014).
The makers were toying with the idea of casting Imran Khan and Farhan Akhtar as the literary siblings, but it did not work out. Later, Sidharth Malhotra and Aditya Roy Kapoor were considered for the roles, but the project didn't roll.
Mirror has now learnt that the film has been officially put on the back burner and Karan has asked Shakun to work on another story which will be easier to cast.
Reveals a source close to the production, "Both Karan and Shakun were extremely pleased with the way the earlier film's script had shaped up. However, they were finding it difficult to cast the right actors. Shakun has now moved on to a comedy."
Confirming the same, Shakun told Mirror, "Karan and I have decided to only make the film if we can cast it right. It needs an ensemble cast and I'm very attached to it. I'd rather make it as my third film. I'm already developing another story."
This is the third film Karan has put in cold storage after after Dostana 2 and Shuddhi. While Tarun Mansukhani is reportedly working on a desi remake of French romance Priceless, Karan Malhotra is getting ready to roll with The Warrior remake, featuring Akshay Kumar, Sidharth Malhotra and Jackie Shroff, in August.
