It was a role which got Nick Nolte an Oscar nod and now Jackie Shroff is set to step into the shoes of the American actor in the Hindi remake of The Warrior.
The film revolves around two brothers who meet each other in the boxing ring and Akshay Kumar and Sidharth Malhotra have already been cast as the competing siblings.
Jackie Shroff plays their alcoholic father in the film which will be directed by Karan Malhotra.
When contacted, Jackie confirmed the news, saying, "Like with any role, be it Parinda, Ram Lakhan or Dhoom 3, or any other film, I am excited about this one too. I have to shoot for this from September to January and we are working out the dates."
A source close to the film told Mirror that Karan Johar, the film's producer, met Jackie last week with the proposal.
"Jackie didn't take long to say yes. Karan (Malhotra) plans to tweak the role to suit the Indian audiences and both the director and producer agreed that Jackie will be a good fit for the role," said the source.
