After being a co-producer on The Lunchbox, Irrfan Khan has zeroed down on his next project. The actor is collaborating with Mira Nair on a film which will mark the directorial debut of Mira's nephew, Ishaan Nair. Irrfan had earlier acted in Mira's Salaam Bombay and The Namesake.
According to a source, the still untitled film will be financed by Shailesh Singh, who produced the Kangana Ranaut-starrer Tanu Weds Manu. Irrfan will serve as a creative producer while his wife Sutapa Sikdar is co-writing the screenplay with Ishaan. Added the source, “Ishaan is a photographer who was earlier based in New York where he learnt filmmaking. He made a short film called Guroor which received praise on the festival circuit. Then Mira insisted that Ishaan should use his visual sense to make feature films."
When contacted, Ishaan told Mirror, “The film is about a young boy on a road trip where he encounters two women. We will finalise a cast within the next fortnight and the film will go on floors in September. It will be shot in Mumbai and Gujarat."
When contacted, Irrfan said, “Yes, Mira and I are collaborating on a film which Ishaan will direct."
