DNA (July 2, 2014)

Her father, Shakti Kapoor, is, arguably, Bollywood’s most notorious villain. Her last film? Ek Villain. And despite such devilish antecedents, Shraddha Kapoor continues to play angelic roles in her films.

She may be a Bollywood insider, but she reveals in GQ India’s July issue, which hits stands today, that she was actually discovered on Facebook. Therein lies the irony. With fame, followed the deactivation of her account on the social network, thanks to a barrage of friend requests and messages from overzealous fans.
Bit too extreme a step, we think. Wouldn’t changing settings to ‘private’ have fended off potential stalkers? She agrees, “I didn’t want to leave. I ended up losing contact with my friends in Boston, some other people I met travelling...”, adding tersely, “It was a tough choice to make.” Better safe than sorry?

The girl rarely lets her guard down and is serious to the point of being boring. She says, cryptically, “I am a nice girl,” adding, “you won’t find that level of candour here for various reasons.”

Although she began her career with two flops, two hits in quick succession have made her a serious contender. What’s next? “Honestly, I’m lost. I’m at the point where I really don’t know what to do next. I think I’ll take my time, probably make a little money and use it to travel.”
