I am on top-of-the-world — both my films have been received so well-Shraddha Kapoor

After the tepid response to her film Batti Gul Meter Chalu in 2018, Shraddha Kapoor has had two big hits this year, and that, too, back-to-back. Saaho, in which she co-starred with Prabhas, and Chhichhore with Sushant Singh Rajput released within a week’s gap. And, while the former bilingual outing, has reportedly already grossed nearly Rs 135 crore and is closing in on Gully Boy in Hindi, the Telugu version has collected Rs 146 crores at the box office. Chhichhore, which released last week, has crossed Rs 50 crores and is still going strong in the theatres. Shraddha, who played a cop in Saaho and essayed a college student as well as a middle-aged woman in Chhichhore is elated.

“I am on top-of-the-world — both my films have been received so well and loved by the audiences. Saaho is my biggest grosser till date. I am cherishing every bit of it. I am super grateful and happy about both doing well,” says she excitedly.

About the Nitesh Tiwari directorial, the actress says that she was thrilled to play both the age groups. “Nitesh sir is an incredible director and the way he brought the Maya's —younger and older — on screen with sensitivity and love, I could connect with the emotions that she was feeling, the story and journey of the film. It came from the heart,” she elaborates.

Tell her that though critics have liked the part which depicts their college life, they have had issues with the portrayal of their older versions, and Shraddha says, “It’s amazing that audiences, through word-of-mouth, are the deciders of what content and film they like to watch. They are the ones who have the final say. I am grateful that they went and saw the film in such large numbers, and enjoyed it.”

Riding high on the success of the two releases, she is now looking forward to her upcoming movie, Street Dancer 3D with Varun Dhawan. “It is a sequel to ABCD 2 and reunites me with my gang. There’s been a lot of hard work behind it and is so varied from the current two releases. I am excited about it as I will be seen in a different avatar,” she signs off.

5 reasons why the Bhatt babe trumps Shraddha in the bikini face-off
DNA (March 29, 2016)

Shraddha Kapoor’s bikini look in Baaghi is being talked about and because since the start of their careers, they have been compared to each other, we can’t help but compare hers with Alia Bhatt’s swimsuit look in Shaandaar.

- Alia has a better bikini bod. So far, Alia has managed to stay ahead of the style curve and is not scared to take risks and that shows in the way she pulls off the bikini. Shraddha, on the other, doesn’t do justice to the swimsuit. Her bikini top looks more like a sports bra!

- While Alia struts her stuff on the sandy beach with aplomb, Shraddha seems to be apologising for her bikini look in the song by hiding her lower body in the water. It’s like she wasn’t too happy to don the swimsuit.

- Shraddha’s sarong lets her down. Who in their right mind wears a sarong inside water? Clearly Shraddha’s stylist should have told her to lose it. Don’t wear a bikini if you are going to attach ifs and buts to it.

- Alia seems more comfortable with her body language which effortlessly flirts with the camera. The confidence which Miss Bhatt exudes takes her look several notches up. On the other hand, the demure Miss Kapoor sort of lacks that level of confidence.

- Styling-wise, Alia nails the look with her beach-inspired hair, natural make-up and the fuchsia pink swimsuit which offsets her complexion. The blue swimsuit on Shraddha isn’t the most flattering pick.

I’ll take my time, make a little money and use it to travel-Shraddha Kapoor

DNA (July 2, 2014)

Her father, Shakti Kapoor, is, arguably, Bollywood’s most notorious villain. Her last film? Ek Villain. And despite such devilish antecedents, Shraddha Kapoor continues to play angelic roles in her films.

She may be a Bollywood insider, but she reveals in GQ India’s July issue, which hits stands today, that she was actually discovered on Facebook. Therein lies the irony. With fame, followed the deactivation of her account on the social network, thanks to a barrage of friend requests and messages from overzealous fans.
Bit too extreme a step, we think. Wouldn’t changing settings to ‘private’ have fended off potential stalkers? She agrees, “I didn’t want to leave. I ended up losing contact with my friends in Boston, some other people I met travelling...”, adding tersely, “It was a tough choice to make.” Better safe than sorry?

The girl rarely lets her guard down and is serious to the point of being boring. She says, cryptically, “I am a nice girl,” adding, “you won’t find that level of candour here for various reasons.”

Although she began her career with two flops, two hits in quick succession have made her a serious contender. What’s next? “Honestly, I’m lost. I’m at the point where I really don’t know what to do next. I think I’ll take my time, probably make a little money and use it to travel.”
