Varun Dhawan has left mustard fields and fawning heroines behind. The actor recently shot in Nashik jail with over 2500 real-life inmates for a scene in Sriram Raghavan's Badlapur.
Revealed a source close to the unit, "The scene was shot over two days and also features Nawazuddin (Siddiqui). Varun's character meets some women convicts in the scene."
Varun met some of them after the shoot and was surprised to learn that they live in their cells with their children, who are below the age of five. It was his first visit to a prison and he was jittery at the prospect of facing serial killers and rapists.
Although the makers are tight-lipped about the content, Mirror has learnt that the film is a revenge drama inspired by a real-life event. "Sriram also made Varun shoot in a hospital morgue with corpses. It's a dark thriller high on violence and sex," adds the source.
