The directorial bug has
bitten Samir Soni, who is getting ready to helm his debut film this
year. The actor, who has also written the film, has joined hands with
actor-producer Sanjay Suri for this thriller drama, which is set to go
on floors during the last quarter of this year. Sanjay will play the
lead in it.
Says Samir, “I've always enjoyed writing stories...One of my stories that stuck with me for a long time was My Birthday Song. One day, I took the script to Sanjay and he loved it. It was clear to us that the film would be best served if I directed and he acted and produced it. We often joke that this film will be our Good Will Hunting."
Adds Sanjay, “Samir has been a close friend and when he narrated the script to me, I told him he must direct this one. In turn, he said, 'Will you act in it?' I told him that not only would I like to act in it, but produce it too. I always knew that Samir would someday direct a film. We will soon start casting for the female lead."
