If all goes well, Aditi Rao Hydari will play Kalpana Lajmi in the biopic she is making on singer, composer and her partner Bhupen Hazarika. “I met Aditi for lunch in Pali Village and she is reading the script. I'm looking for a girl who can pass off as a 17 year old which was how old I was when I met Bhupenda. He was 40 then," says Kalpana.

It's been eight years since her last film, Chingaari.She is determined to get the biopic rolling soon. “I owe this to Bhupenda who did so much for me," she asserts.

However, her co-producer, Pooja Bhatt, has backed out. “Her father, Mahesh Bhatt, told me that they wouldn't like to take up my film for now. I know Pooja is busy with the Saraansh remake and has signed a three-film deal with T-Series. Maybe T-Series wants masala movies and mine is too serious for them," she reasons.

However, Prosenjit Chatterjee who is playing Hazarika has taken on the onus of getting funds for the film. Says Kalpana, “Prosenjit has a distinct cinematic vision."
