HOLIDAY - A SOLDIER IS NEVER OFF DUTY had a good Monday grossing
7.50-7.75 crore nett and taking its four day business to 46.50 crore
nett. The week should finish around 64-66 crore nett depending on the
falls on the rest of the weekdays. It is the second highest Monday of
the year after JAI HO which grossed around 9 crore nett.
This will make it the second highest first week for Akshay Kumar after ROWDY RATHORE which grossed 75 crore nett approx and coincidently was released in exactly the same as HOLIDAY - A SOLDIER IS NEVER OFF DUTY two years back.
If the film manages to hold through the week then the second week will be all important and a big total will mean the film emerging a hit. The 100 crore mark is also dependent on week two as there will be a huge flow of releases from week three onwards which will hit the business of the film hard.
There have been many film in the past 18 months or so which have held up on Monday but then started to fall from Tuesday. And by Thursday, the collections are so low which leaves the second week to fizzle out.
So the key for HOLIDAY - A SOLDIER IS NEVER OFF DUTY is too avoid those 15% daily drops and go into week two with solid collections. The keys days for a film hoping to have a long run have become the first Tuesday and second Friday.
