Following the release of English Vinglish in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea and Germany, Sridevi recently travelled with her comeback film to Japan. The movie was premiered in Tokyo, where the country's First Lady, Mrs Akie Abe, was the Chief Guest.

The actress was accompanied by her husband, producer Boney Kapoor. The event saw a select gathering and performance by pop singer Agnes Chan, besides an interaction with the Japanese press. Sri and the First Lady also exchanged gifts, apart from discussing cinema and how Bollywood films were gaining popularity in Japan.

Says a source, “Mrs Abe seemed very touched by the emotional quotient of the film. Her eyes were moist when she was leaving."

The Gauri Shinde-directed film is being released by Eros International in Japan on June 28.
