2 STATES has emerged the highest grossing film ever with a production and marketing cost under 50 crore. It will also be the first film to cross under 100 crore nett which has a cost less than 50 crore to make and release.

There are now around 25 films which have crossed 100 crore nett but all are big budget films apart from 2 States. In terms of distributor share, GADAR-EK PREM KATHA is still top amongst the list below and 2 STATES will also not cross the share of SINGHAM which was over 50 crore while 2 States will stay below 50 crore.

There are some films in the list which were the highest grossing films ever like GADAR-EK PREM KATHA, DHOOM 2 and OM SHANTI OM. Even RAB NE BANA DI JODI can make it if we go by release date but by the time it had beaten the previous record holder, GHAJINI a film released two weeks later had already surpassed RAB NE BANA DI JODI.
