What is the toughest part of being a father of three girls? And what is the best?
The toughest part of being a father to three girls will come when they become teenagers, when they start having their own likes and dislikes, crushes, late-night plans, and a world of their own. The best part of being a girl dad is knowing that no matter how grown up they become, a part of their heart will always belong to you…and they’ll always love you the most.
Do you worry about how you will react to late-night plans, boyfriends, tattoos and drinking when your daughters grow up? Are you a conservative dad or a cool one?
I think I’m a pretty cool dad, but I don’t know how I’m going to react when boyfriends enter the picture or when my daughters go through their first heartbreaks. I know it is all part of life, and while my instinct will be to protect them, I hope I’ll also be understanding.
As for things like partying, tattoos, drinking, and all other choices they will make as they grow up, I may not always agree with everything. There will definitely be moments that challenge me. But I don’t want to be the kind of father who controls or forces. I want to be someone they can always talk to, someone who guides rather than dictates. A dad who is a mix of fierce and understanding, who sets boundaries but never stops listening.
You enrolled your twins, Bella and Vienna, in a school in Canada during the pandemic (they moved there with their mom, Teejay Sidhu), and your younger one Gia joined them later. Are they still living in Canada?
The past two years have been difficult being away from them while they study in Canada, and I’m here working and attending to my parents. I miss the little moments we once shared every day. Those hugs, conversations, laughter, and simple togetherness…I miss them immensely. My little one, Gia, is such a beautifully free-spirited soul. She stayed with me (in Mumbai) for a year, and those moments were truly special.
Being a television actor comes with its own challenges. There were days when I would shoot for 12 to 14 hours straight, so many times I’d bring Gia along to the set, and she would just chill with me there. And honestly, she loves the set. If you ask her, “What does papa do?” she’ll smile and say, “He’s shooting.”
What is your trick for getting your kids to listen to you?
There’s no trick in the book to make children listen to you. The only real way is to speak to them in their language. Talk to them with respect, as though they are individuals with their own thoughts and emotions. Explain to them what’s right, what’s wrong, and help them understand the consequences of their choices. And then, instead of forcing an answer on them, ask them gently: “What do you think you should do?”
A section of parents and experts believe the new-age gentle parenting approach is spoiling kids. What is your take on it?
People often misunderstand the meaning of gentle parenting. Gentle parenting does not mean spoiling your child. It means not getting angry over every little thing. It means not constantly scolding them for mistakes, but instead guiding them with patience and understanding. It means giving them your time when they say, “Dad, let’s play,” “Listen to my story,” or “Tell me a story.” At the heart of it, gentle parenting is simply about giving your children the quality time, attention, and emotional presence that many of us wish we had received growing up. And at the same time, I completely understand our parents, too. They came from a very different space and generation of parenting, and they did the best they could with what they knew at that time.
In a world of momfluencers, you are among a small number of dads who share their experiences and give parenting tips. How did the idea for your page, ‘Parenting with Karanvir Bohra’ come up?
That’s primarily the reason I chose to share my experiences and the experiences of other fathers as well. There are so many momfluencers today, but very rarely do we get to hear a dad’s perspective on parenting or co-parenting. I genuinely felt people needed to hear that side too. That’s what led me to start a podcast on my YouTube channel called ‘Daddy Adventures’. I’ve had some really interesting and heartfelt conversations with Karan Singh Grover, Raghu Ram, Tusshar Kapoor, Gurmeet Choudhary, Zaid Darbar, Kiku Sharda and many other dads. What touched me the most was getting such a beautiful insight into how they feel as fathers, the emotional journeys they go through, and how each of them is navigating this entire new-age approach to parenting.
You had posted about the time when you let one of your twins take a flight to Canada alone when she was seven. These days, most urban parents never let their kids, especially girls, be alone in order to ensure safety, but they end up making them under-confident and dependent. How can parents encourage their kids to be independent without compromising their safety?
I still remember when my dad and uncle pushed me to take a bus alone for the very first time. I was barely 10, travelling from Colaba to Nana Chowk. When I completed that journey by myself, I felt so empowered. Years later, a similar situation arose with my daughter when she had to travel alone because of an issue with my visa. I realised airlines take great care of children travelling solo. I felt secure knowing she was safe, and I could also see how empowered and confident the experience made her feel. I truly believe parents should encourage children to have small adventures and independent experiences — that’s how they become mentally and emotionally strong.
How has fatherhood changed you?
Becoming a father changed everything for me. Life is no longer just about my dreams, my ambitions, or my journey. It’s about them. Every decision I make now carries a greater sense of responsibility because little eyes are always watching.
What I have learned over the years is that children are not ours to control; they are ours to love, guide and support. My role is not to shape them into who I want them to be, but to help them become who they are meant to be.
Has your parenting journey been a smooth or bumpy one so far? What is the biggest lesson you have learned along the way?
My journey as a father has been like a merry-go-round. I have chased my kids to eat food, get ready, go down and play, go to school, etc. Watching my daughters grow up has given me some of the most beautiful moments of my life; it’s like a bouquet of memories I will cherish forever.
Gauahar Khan slams Suniel Shetty for ‘comfort of C-section’ remark

Actor Gauahar Khan has criticized actor Suniel Shetty for his comment after daughter Athiya Shetty gave birth to her baby the natural way. He said, “In a world where everybody wants the comfort of having a caesarean baby, she chose not to do that and had a natural delivery.”
Gauahar, who is currently expecting her second child with husband Zaid Darbar, spoke about her own pregnancy on her show MaaaNoranjan, and said, “There was something said by a big personality recently that c-section was an easier option. I wanted to scream and ask ‘How can you say that?’”
Talking about how there are “many myths related to c-section,” the 41-year-old added, “How can there be so much misinformation? And for a male celebrity to say that, [especially since he] didn’t go through pregnancy, carry a child or doesn’t know how painful a c-section can actually be.”
The actor also went on to add that “having a normal delivery or a c-section is not in a woman’s hands”.
The expecting mother also expressed her annoyance at people asking her how she chose to give birth to her son Zehaan: “A lot of people ask me, mostly women, if I had a normal delivery or a c-section. I don’t know why is this such a big topic. Both are equally tough and give you the same feeling of motherhood. But let me just put this chatter to rest — I had a c-section.”
As for Suniel, while he apologized for the comment, he said, “It has been completely blown out of proportion... To all individuals who were offended — even if I did not make the mistake — I will sincerely apologize to all the ladies out there because I honestly appreciate and revere them.”

Gauahar Khan, who is five months pregnant, walked the ramp for the Bombay Times Fashion Week Spring Edition. It was a feeling of déjà vu for the actress, who had also walked the ramp during her first pregnancy.
“It's very special. In fact, no one knows that I had walked the ramp when I was pregnant with my son Zehaan. I was two months pregnant then, so I had not announced it. This time, I was very nervous because obviously, your appearance changes. However, I felt more empowered,” Gauahar shares.
‘Each pregnancy is different’
Is her pregnancy experience this time around different from her first? Gauahar, who had shared the pregnancy news on Instagram recently, says, “It is very different. Each pregnancy is different. I'm equally nervous for the second one. You still wonder whether you are doing everything right. I feel like I'm going through it for the first time. I am excited, elated, and overjoyed... you get to experience the same feelings again. You still feel those pulls and you’re still making those calls to the doctors. If I need my calm, I call Zaid (her husband, Zaid Darbar). He's my biggest support," she adds.
‘Becoming a mother made me appreciate my mother a lot more’
Ask her if motherhood changed her, and she replies, “It has made me more patient and appreciate my mother a lot more. We just take mothers for granted. Mothers are just something else, and you realise that only when you become a mother.”
She also adds, "During my first pregnancy, I was shooting an action show till the fourth month. This time around, too, I was shooting some action scenes till the third month. Work-wise, I will continue until I can. When I was pregnant with Zehaan, I had worked till the eighth month."

Gauahar Khan and Zaid Darbar’s love story is straight out of a Bollywood movie. It started with Zaid sliding into Gauahar’s DMs on Insta. “I knew if I started a conversation, it would go to another level, as I was looking for something more permanent. I had just come out of a weird relationship and was not looking to date anymore. I took three days to message Gauahar,” Zaid reveals.
Gauahar adds, “For the first 20 days of knowing each other, we didn’t even meet, as I was in Pune. And then, in the next few days, he asked me for marriage. We started talking on July 17, and he proposed to me on August 23.”
Gauahar says she never doubted her decision: “It’s surreal that even after saying yes, I never thought, ‘What did I do?’ Maybe it was divine intervention.”
Sharing how the proposal happened, she adds, “It was my birthday (August 23) and he had planned a surprise at home with both our families. We played dumb charades. We were on the same team, and he was given the movie title Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (2004) to enact. As soon as I guessed the name, suddenly the song Mujhse Shaadi Karogi started playing. I thought people were teasing me, so I got embarrassed and shut my eyes. And when I opened my eyes, Zaid was on his knees with the ring. And I said, ‘yes’.”
Zaid goes on to narrate another incident he cherishes — their first meeting. “She refused to sit in my car. She said, ‘I am not sitting with you in your car’,” he laughs.
Sharing the reason behind doing so, Gauahar adds, “I was thinking what kind of a woman would he think I was if I was ready to sit in his car in our first meeting.”

Actor-couple Gauahar Khan and Zaid Darbar recently went for Umrah with their son Zehaan, whose face they revealed to the world for the first time. “We didn’t plan this. Right before we took our flight, we just said that this is the place where we would feel safe and spiritual to be able to share our child with the world.”
However, the protective mother insists that she doesn’t want their son to be in the spotlight. “It doesn’t mean that now, he is out there for the public,” says Khan, for whom going for Umrah as a parent was a completely different feeling.
“We reached Medina at iftar time. When we entered and proceeded towards the masjid, Zehaan was flapping his arms. It was so surreal and beautiful. If there was one place to reveal who Zehaan is, it was in front of the Kaaba. I was howling out of gratitude that God blessed me to be a mother.”
Having been to the pilgrimage before, Khan says taking Zehaan, who turns 1 on May 10, for Umrah meant added responsibility.
“I was on superwoman mode and my husband was on a superman mode,” shares Khan, adding that going for Umrah gives her a clarity like nothing else: “I asked for forgiveness and thanked God for every single blessing.”

Gauahar Khan is eagerly awaiting a new chapter in her life as she prepares to become a mother. The actor opens up about her excitement for this Eid, which will be extra special as she gets closer to her due date.
“This Eid is extremely special for me! Also, I am wondering if I will be able to cook, as I am getting lazier by the day because the (delivery) time is getting closer. We are counting days until we become three from two,” shares an elated Khan, who is expecting her first child with husband, content creator Zaid Darbar.
For this year’s Eid celebrations, Khan plans to take it easy and relax as her family and friends come to her house to celebrate: “I’m going to be putting my feet up, and everybody will have to come and see me. I am hoping that I don’t tire myself out so much and just enjoy the day.”
She also hopes to receive a “double Eidi” from her husband. “That’s what I have been telling him (laughs). Actually, I don’t have to tell him anything. All my life, I thought I was a gifter, but I am married to someone who is a bigger gifter than me. I know that I will get something appropriate. It better be two gifts,” she chuckles.
Although the actor was unable to fast during the holy month due to her third trimester, the 39-year-old expressed how the experience was still meaningful. Khan shares, “I missed my rozas, but everything else has been the same. I am waking up for sehri because I cook for Zaid and [have also been preparing] iftar.” She also believes all her “ibadat”, or religious activities, are “passing on to her unborn child”.
“I’m trying my best to make it as peaceful, pious and fun as possible for the life that I have inside me,” Khan ends.

Actor Gauahar Khan and her husband, actor-content creator Zaid Darbar will be parents soon. In an exclusive chat, the excited mum-to-be says that she is looking forward to this phase of her life. “Zaid and I are really excited. We want to cherish this time despite being in the limelight. I want to keep things as low-key as possible, but being a public figure, I wanted to put it out as well and take the blessings of people who have been with me. This will be a new journey for both of us. I can’t put my finger on exactly how I am feeling,” Khan says.
The couple took to social media on Tuesday to announce that they’d be parents soon. They shared an animated reel and captioned it, “One became two when Z met G. And now the adventure continues as we soon become three. Inshaallah seeking all your prayers and blessings in this beautiful journey (sic).”
Khan, who is due in May 2023, reveals that she was working non-stop through her first trimester. “I shot for an action show and I was so enthusiastic that I even did a few stunts. I will be working through January, as I have many live events. So, there will be a lot of travel. And, I have things lined up till mid-February. People have been telling me to not work so much. Maybe now, for the next five months, I’ll get calls for pregnant woman roles,” quips Khan, who got married in December 2020.
Embracing motherhood soon is an indescribable feeling, says Khan, who admits that she’s good with kids, thanks to her nieces and nephews: “I have felt like a mother to them and have been there for them. I am sure the feelings for my child will be multifold.”
The Tandav actor, who has been working for two decades, says she might consider slowing down a bit during pregnancy and after having the baby, but she won’t take a pause. “I will keep working, as I don’t think I would be able to do without work,” Khan ends.

The music director talks about Gauahar-Zaid’s recent pregnancy announcement

Gauahar Khan and her husband, Zaid Darbar, are ending 2022 on a happy note. The couple took to social media to announce that they are expecting their first baby. The couple shared an animated video that said, “One became two when Z met G. And now the adventure continues as we soon become three! Gauahar & Zaid +1. Insha Allah seeking all your prayers and blessing in this new journey (sic).”
The couple, who tied the knot in 2020, will be celebrating their second wedding anniversary on December 25.
Zaid’s father, composer Ismail Darbar is excited about the news. When we reached out to him, he said, “I am extremely happy that Gauahar and Zaid are going to become parents and I will be a grandfather for the first time. Main dada banne wala hoon and this will be the most joyous occasion in our lives. I pray for a healthy baby...aur uska naseeb bulund ho. Everyone works hard, but dua and blessings are most important to have a good life, so I want my grandchild to have a life, which is blessed.”

The past year has been a busy one for actor Gauahar Khan, with the release of three shows on OTT platforms and another three ready to go. She also completed one year of marriage and says that this has been “one of the best years” of her life so far. “It’s been a fantastic year. After Bigg Boss, this is my best year, work wise. I have done a variety of roles and played a prominent role in most of them,” she adds.
But it is not just work that is on Khan’s mind. The 39-year-old would love to be a mother, too. “I definitely look forward to being a mother. I really hope that it happens soon. But I don’t have a plan, yet. When it has to happen, it will happen. It’s not something Zaid (Darbar, dancer-husband) and I have planned for either. We haven’t had this conversation so far,” the actor tells us.
While the Salt City actor is grateful to all the directors who have thought of her for varied characters, she says that she has never approached filmmakers for work. “When I started out in the industry, I was an outsider and I used to feel shy, and wonder if it was the correct thing to approach people (for work). I’m not saying that there’s anything wrong with that. I have people from my extended family who are in the industry, but I have never picked up a call and said I wanted to do the project. Not because I didn’t want to, but I just did not know how to. It’s very new to me. I just wait for the right opportunity to come my way,” Khan explains.
Does the actor have a bucket list of things that she would like to tick off in the upcoming year and she is quick to respond: “I have ticked off a lot from my bucket list after working with almost all OTT platforms. But I want to keep working.”

Every festival is important but first-time celebrations hold a certain charm. And actor Gauahar Khan, who tied the knot with actor Zaid Darbar in December, is excited about this Eid ul-Adha. “Last year was the first time Zaid met my mum on Eid, and this will be my first after our wedding, so it is special. Right now, I am shooting in Delhi and will fly to Mumbai for a day for the celebrations. I wouldn’t miss it for anything,” she exclaims.
“The story of Bakra Eid is that Allah wanted to test Prophet Ibrahim and asked him to sacrifice his most precious belonging,” shares Khan, adding, “So, when he decided to sacrifice his son, Allah loved the gesture so much that he turned the sacrifice into a lamb and spared the son. So, that’s the qurbani of a goat. You give three-fourth of it to an orphanage, so the people in need get food and a feast.”
Missing her father, who passed away in March, Khan recalls how he would take her to select the goats. “He taught us how to take care of them, treat them right and with respect, even in death. My memories of spending time with him are precious, including getting the Eidi. It will be my first Eid without him, so there are mixed emotions. I can never replace my dad and his loss will always remain with me,” she says.
Darbar and Khan recently returned from a trip to Russia, where they spent quality time together. “It was a honeymoon trip as we couldn’t go anywhere after our wedding. Though we visited a few cities in India, it was mostly work-related. [Russia] was a lot of fun and there were so many things to do. With everything that we have been through in this year, it was perfect,” says the Tandav actor.
However, she realises travelling amid the pandemic is “a luxury”. “All of us will have to come to terms with the situation today and start having a life again. The way to do that is to be responsible, not just towards yourself but everyone. Be careful about things you do and take all safety measures possible,” she signs off.

For actor Gauahar Khan, who got married in December last year, this Eid is special as it’ll be her first such celebration with husband, Zaid Darbar. Though the Coronavirus lockdown is a dampener, the actor prefers to focus on the “good side”.
“This is the second Eid in a lockdown and no one wants to be in a lockdown during a festival. But the good side is that you aren’t distracted during Ramzan and ibadat achche se hoti hai,” says the actor, who urges all to stay at home.
Excited to celebrate it with her family, Khan says, “It is my first Eid with my husband, Zaid. In fact, last year on Bakri Eid, he met my mother. I bought a gift for Zaid, a new model of a phone and he was happy... But after checking it out for an hour, he said, ‘Maybe, I didn’t want it’ (laughs). He’s such a child.”
As she didn’t shop for Eid this year, Khan plans to dig into her wedding gifts and choose from outfits that she has got. “After my wedding, we didn’t go on any daawats at friends or relatives’ home as my dad fell sick. Eid is the only festival which we look forward to and dressing up will feel good,” she says.
The year has also been very difficult for Khan as she lost her dad in March and she admits to not know how to deal with this feeling. “You want to be normal and move on with life. But it’s a lingering feeling and it won’t ever go away. Though he was 76, I never thought I’d lose him so early in life. It’ll be tough not to hear his voice on Eid. But my dad wouldn’t have wanted us to be sad. I’m happy he was at my wedding and enjoyed himself,” she shares.

The latest to join the bandwagon are actress Gauahar Khan and choreographer Zaid Darbar (music composer Ismail Darbar’s son). In an exclusive interview with ETimes TV, the couple spoke about their relationship. Excerpts...
Tell us about the moment when you felt Zaid is the one...
Gauahar Khan: We have known each other not for a very long time. I think when the feeling is right and you know, you are meant to be together then nothing else matters, whether it is a time frame that you have known each other for or any of the other norms that people go by. When I got to know him, I realised that if it was to become forever, it wouldn’t take much time.
When did you feel that Gauahar was the one for you?
Zaid Darbar: She is exactly like me. Everything was organic and it was straight from the heart.
When did you guys meet?
Gauahar: We met in July 2020. Within a few months, he proposed to me (laughs!).
So it is chat mangni pat byah for the two of you?
Gauahar: We both have had our share of experiences, we have had our own course of learning in life. For me, as long as our families know what we are doing and what we feel, that’s what matters. We are happy and we are not thinking about how much time we have spent together or since how long we have known each other or anything like that. We are just ecstatic about knowing each other and excited about what the future holds for us.
Zaid: It is a big commitment I know and not just marriage, even relationship is a big commitment because you are involving families, time and emotions. We both have seen a lot of things in life and it’s not that we have got into it without thinking. According to me, when I stop thinking much about something and it is going on naturally, I feel that is what Allah wants.
As the wedding date approaches, are you feeling the jitters?
Gauahar: Actually, I have no jitters at all with anything to do with Zaid, because he makes me feel like everything is going to be fine and taken care of. He is my best friend, my resolver of every issue. It’s not like it is all hunkydory, we have our share of arguments, how we deal with it is the best part. The way he makes me feel I know that even if the wedding was going to be tomorrow, I would not be nervous.
Zaid: And I know I wouldn’t be nervous of getting things together, because she manages everything so well. I know she will handle everything. Initially, I thought I am the only one who can manage things at one go, then Allah sent her in my life and made me realise that no, you have a partner who is better than you. My family simply adores her. She has proved how good she is in both her professional and personal life. I am proud of my Gauahar.
What do you like the most about Zaid?
Gauahar: Honestly, I have always told my family and friends before meeting Zaid that I am yet to meet the male version of me. I feel I have the capacity to love, find a balance and take responsibility and I used to always think yaar mere jaisa koi ladka bana hai kya. Finally, I met Zaid who is younger than me, but more mature than me or experienced to handle situations in a calmer way.
What do you like the most about Gauahar?
Zaid: It is the same for me. She completes me.
Do you think age really matters in a relationship?
Gauahar: Let me clear this, the age difference that has come out is wrong. He is few years younger to me, but not 12 years. Judging and passing comments that the age gap can act as a barrier in a relationship is easy, but Zaid and I have a similar kind of understanding and maturity. So, age should not matter.
Zaid: We both are mature. There are a few things which she makes me understand. We both balance each other.
What was your family’s reaction when you first told them?
Gauahar: Everyone is excited with our coming together. Our families get along very well with each other.
Zaid: Yes, everyone is very happy. We had to tell Dad to control the excitement (laughs!). He is so happy.

After months of speculation, actor Gauahar Khan and Zaid Darbar announced their engagement last month. The couple will tie the knot on December 25.
The bride-to-be reveals that over a month of knowing him well, they got engaged. “I felt this is my kind of human being. I knew we would have a great friendship. We didn’t have a courtship. I met him, we hit it off and marriage was not on his mind. It was in a flow and after meeting me, in literally over a month, he proposed. There were no second thoughts,” she gushes about Zaid, son of music director Ismail Darbar.
Khan reveals that when her dad was hospitalised and she was in Pune taking care of him, she met Zaid only three times in six weeks. “I had to go to Pune right after he proposed and I got to know him better over the phone. I had a deeper understanding of life during the Coronavirus pandemic. What got further emphasized is that time with family and loved ones matters the most. To meet a man who believed the same, made me think he is my kind of person,” says Khan, adding she is unfazed that she is seven years older to Zaid. “I can be a goofball with him and also find the maturity and balance in the relationship,” she says.

The joy of togetherness became but a memory and the thrill of travel, a distant dream as Corona locked twosomes in. For eight months they waited and wondered if life would ever be normal again, yearning for the simple pleasures of a late-night stroll, candlelit dinner, and a dip in the ocean. For a while, it seemed they were lost to us forever, but as the weeks limped by, for many in solitary confinement, the fear of illness was overpowered by the need to live. And this Diwali, as light shone through the darkness, many of B-town’s love birds flew out of their nests to make some Insta magic.

Even though actress Gauahar Khan has denied wedding rumours, sources say that she will be tying the knot with composer Ismail Darbar’s son, Zaid Darbar, on November 22 in Mumbai. Recently, Ismail Darbar hinted that a wedding is on the cards. While talking to ETimes TV, the Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam composer had said, “If Zaid wants to marry her, why would I object? He is nearly 29, and knows what he’s doing.”
Sources close to the couple also informed us that Gauahar’s sister Nigaar Z Khan and other siblings will be flying down to India next month for the wedding, which will be a two-day affair with close friends and family members in attendance.
Earlier, there were rumours that the couple would be getting married next year. However, Zaid laughingly told us, “Yes, but I’ve heard most probably she is getting married this year.” He had also added that his family adores Gauahar, who shares a great equation with his sister. “Gauahar has a very strong bond with my family. My younger sister adores her and always says she wants to be like her,” he said.

In the current scenario, where the world is gripped with fear and anxiety, we thought we needed to put out more inspiring and joyful content." Zaid adds, "Apart from acting and dancing together, this is an opportunity to connect with our Telugu fans as well. We admire Punit's work."
Well aware that his fans have, so far, enjoyed seeing him in romantic offerings, Pathak "wanted to experiment with something light-hearted", this time around. "The rap [section] in the Telugu version is difficult, but the Darbar brothers pulled it off with practice, and shot for 48 hours." The music video will release on March 20.
