THE KERALA STORY is now slowing at the box office as its fifth week will probably do business in the range of 5.50 crore nett plus. The film has a phenomenal run till date and despite these dropping collections, it is still a very good fifth week.

There will be one more week to collect as when ADIPURUSH come,s there will not be much collections as the box office will be dominated by the Prabhas starrer while ZARA HATKE ZARA BACHKE will get the bulk of the remaining screens. The lifetime business will probably finish at around 222-223 crore nett.

This will make it the fifth best performer post pandemic for outright Hindi films after PATHAAN, THE KASHMIR FILES, DRISHYAM 2 and BRAHMASTRA. The fact that THE KASHMIR FILES and THE KERALA STORY  are among the top five means that there will be many more of these type of films to come. But at the end of the day it is not really cinema so there will be diminishing returns and the quicker this cinema gets out of the way the better. There is AJMER 92 awaiting a release in July and this will be about some issue involving a certain community but in a different part of the country after Kashmir and Kerala.

THE KERALA STORY managed to collect 3.75 crore nett in its fifth weekend which is a good collection but the film is now seeing drops as collections are 60-65% down from last week. The trend is still superior to THE KASHMIR FILES.

This takes the collections to a crazy 216 crore nett and it should comfortably go over the 220 crore nett mark and maybe finish at around 225 crore nett. THE KASHMIR FILES saw huge support through corporate bookings and blocked shows while here the mass Hindi circuits have been dominated by families who bring females out to show what is happening to make them aware. How much is true and fake in the film is for individuals to decide. But at the box office, it has worked a bit like an educational film across the Hindi audience.

The loss of business from some areas not playing the film is probably in the 7-8 crore nett range till date.

THE KERALA STORY saw a drop in business on its fifth Friday probably due to the release of ZARA HATKE ZARA BACHKE which has done better than it expected. The collections of THE KERALA STORY were around 75 lakhs nett which is good for a fifth Friday but there is a 30% drop from the previous day.

The film managed to beat the collections of PATHAAN in week four but that will not be the case in week five due to this drop on the fifth Friday. The film has reached 212.50 crore nett now and should add another 10-11 crore nett from here.

The collections in Mumbai circuit are a huge 83 crore nett which is much better than THE KASHMIR FILES as it did 77 crore nett. Delhi/UP should reach the 50 crore nett in week five but here it will remain short of THE KASHMIR FILES.

THE KERALA STORY recorded an excellent fourth week as collections were over 16 crore nett. This is the highest fourth week post pandemic for an original Hindi film and only behind KGF - CHAPTER 2 if we count all Hindi content. The fourth week numbers are ahead of PATHAAN which collected 14 crore nett apprx. It is also the sixth or seventh highest fourth week of all time.

The total collections of the film after four weeks are a little short of 212 crore nett as the film heads for a final total in the 225 crore nett range which is extraordinary. These collections are less than THE KASHMIR FILES but it has to be remembered the collections here are organic and not through block blockings and paid shows.

The competition is not that strong this week with SPIDER-MAN: ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE (animation) which opened on Thursday and ZARA HATKE ZARA BACHKE.

THE KERALA STORY crossed the 200 crore nett mark with collections of almost 206 crore nett after its fourth weekend. The fourth weekend was a healthy 10.50 crore nett which is far better than THE KASHMIR FILES in its fourth weekend. THE KASHMIR FILES did not even do 10 crore nett over the whole fourth week.

The film continues to go strong in Mumbai as it hit the 80 crore nett mark at the end of its fourth weekend. Surprisingly another circuit where the film is doing very well is Mysore which stands at around 12 crore nett. The bulk of the business is from Bengaluru and for Hindi films, this is very much a gentry type of city. So, its a more educated audience compared to the CP and CI markets. But even this audience has taken to the film in a big way. Pune city remains extraordinary

The growth came on Saturday but was limited on Sunday which was the case with most films and may have something to do with the IPL final even though the match was postponed.

THE KERALA STORY remained by far the best collecting Hindi film as the new films could not make any mark at the box office. There is a drop in collections of the film on its fourth Friday as its 25% down from the previous day. There was no competition and higher weekend rates and the trend post pandemic has been to hold better for an accepted film.

THE KERALA STORY is probably exhausting its run a little as it has put up crazy numbers till date for such a small film. The total collections of the film are now almost 197 crore nett which takes it above SOORYAVANSHI and the fifth best performer post pandemic as far as original Hindi films go.

The film is looking at collection in the 220-225 range now for lifetime business with Mumbai circuit closing with an extraordinary 85-90 crore nett.

THE KERALA STORY collected an excellent 37 crore nett in its third week which is a little less than the 40 crore nett of PATHAAN in week three. The drop from last week is a little under 55% and the total collections of the film are now nearly 195 crore nett. The third week will be among the top ten of all time and could be at the 7th position depending where final collections land.

The film will be hitting the 200 crore nett mark on its fourth Saturday which will make it the fifth original Hindi film to reach this mark; the other being THE KASHMIR FILES, BRAHMASTRA, DRISHYAM 2 and PATHAAN. It will be looking to go to the 225 crore range for lifetime business.

Last week saw the release of FAST X but there is no such competition this week with films like AAZAM and JOGIRA SARA RA RA and a so called Pan India film 2018 which is a blockbuster in Kerala. So coincidently there is a blockbuster from Kerala in Hindi while THE KERALA STORY runs riot at the box office. So, its Kerala all over the place. Still these films will hardly affect THE KERALA STORY especially when a FAST X could not do much.

THE KERALA STORY collected a solid 3.75-4 crore nett on its third Monday which takes the film to 185 crore nett. The film will reach the 200 crore nett mark over its fourth weekend and seems to heading for a finish of 225 crore nett apprx which is an insane number for this film.

The third week of the film has so far collected 28 crore nett apprx and it will end at around 38-39 crore nett which is pretty much at the level of PATHAAN. Mumbai circuit is on a crazy run as it is now at around 74 crore nett and will easily cross 75 crore nett by the end of the week. This is more than the lifetime of BRAHMASTRA.

The collections in Delhi/UP stand at around 40 crore nett while the loss from a couple of states not playing will end up at around 10 crore nett unless West Bengal reinstates the film which has not happened as yet.

THE KERALA STORY had another huge weekend of 24 crore nett which is only second to PATHAAN post the pandemic. The hold is superb with a drop of a little over 50% from the previous weekend. This takes the film to a 17 days total of 181.50 crore nett.

The collections of THE KERALA STORY are far better than THE KASHMIR FILES over the third weekend as the block bookings, which had propelled that film in week one and week two diminished, in the third week. Here THE KERALA STORY has a 24 crore nett weekend while the whole week for THE KASHMIR FILES was around 30 crore nett.

The lifetime business of the film will not reach the level of THE KASHMIR FILES but the collections of THE KERALA STORY are more organic and this will be seen with the trends of both films. Both films are pick up films but the trend of THE KASHMIR FILES was weak after the second week while THE KERALA STORY follows a normal trajectory of a pick up film.

THE KERALA STORY continues to maintain its strong run despite the release of FAST X as basically its a different audience. It managed to collect a solid 5.75 crore nett on its third Friday which is way better than what THE KASHMIR FILES had collected on its third Friday.

THE KERALA STORY will now easily be beating the weekly collections of THE KASHMIR FILES but it has more than 40 crore nett to make up as it is that much behind over the first two weeks. It will be difficult to make up that ground but with limited new releases anything is possible in this post pandemic era. The film is not yet in West Bengal cinemas despite the Supreme Court lifting the ban on the film.

The film will also have a chance to beat the third week numbers of PATHAAN which will put the film among the highest third weeks of all time. The total collections of the film are now 167 crore nett and its will have beaten the lifetime of SOORYAVANSHI and BHOOL BHULAIYAA 2 by the end of its third week. The latter may be done over the weekend itself.

THE KERALA STORY saw its first noticeable drop in its run so far on the fourteenth day due to the release of FAST X. It still managed to collect a healthy 6 crore nett but collections were 20% down from the previous day. But this means that the drop has come and it shouldn;t really drop much today (Friday).

There is also a verdict from the supreme court to allow the film to be screened in West Bengal and Tamil Nadu but it has also ordered the makers not to claim the film as a true story but a fiction version of the subject. This is not just for the banned states but across India. The film has started to be screened in Tamil Nadu but it is not yet released in West Bengal cinemas.

The plus in business will come when it comes back in West Bengal as the film lost around 4-5 crore nett in the circuit so far. THE KERALA STORY has collected 84 crore nett in the second week which takes its overall total to 161 crore nett. The collections of THE KASHMIR FILES look tough for the film to reach but there are four weeks till another big release. So, a 250 crore nett total cant be discounted totally though it will be difficult.

THE KERALA STORY was again rock steady on Wednesday with a a minimal drop from Tuesday as it collected around 7.75 crore nett which now takes the film 156 crore nett. The film also has some collections coming from a Telugu and Malayalam version but they are pretty minimal at 1 crore nett till date.

The film could see a drop today as FAST X has been released but it is more important where the film lands tomorrow. THE KASHMIR FILES' number of 247 crore nett is going to be the target for the film as its pretty much a film in the same zone on all accounts. The way THE KERALA STORY has shown a normal trend till now shows is not the sort of corporate/block bookings support that THE KASHMIR FILES got.

That film saw collections drop fast from a strong trend as the block bookings started to fall away. The third week of that film was down over 70% and THE KERALA STORY is looking to be much more stable and hence, it will trend better.

THE KERALA STORY was rock steady on its second Tuesday with a minimal drop as it collected 8.75 crore nett taking its overall total to 149 crore nett plus. The second week stands at 72 crore nett and its looking to be a 87-88 crore nett week which is a little short of PATHAAN's second week.

So, basically its looking 165 crore nett apprx after two weeks and it will down to Friday to determine whether the film goes to the level of THE KASHMIR FILES or do better. There is not much doubt that Friday will be better than THE KASHMIR FILES unless FAST X really hits the film hard but that should not be the case as its a different audience.

THE KERALA STORY is the second highest Hindi grosser this year in India so far and despite limited overseas business, it can still target the 300 crore worldwide mark due the extraordinary business in India.

THE KERALA STORY is keeping up with momentum with collections of 9.50 crore nett on its second Monday taking its total of 140 crore nett. The second week has netted 63 crore nett so far and should go to 85-90 crore nett.

PATHAAN had collected 89 crore nett in its second week; so, THE KERALA STORY is looking to be pretty similar. THE KERALA STORY is still collecting less than THE KASHMIR FILES on a daily basis but this could soon change as THE KASHMIR FILES' pace dropped in the weekdays of the second week and it had come down to around 4.50 crore nett on its third Friday. This was because block bookings became less. THE KERALA STORY does not have the same sort of block bookings and it should soon start beating THE KASHMIR FILES as far as daily numbers go.

THE KERALA STORY should reach 200 crore nett by the end of its third week and the way Maharashtra and Gujarat is going, there is an outside chance the circuit collecting 100 crore nett. Even if its 85-90 crore, its a miracle number as THE KASHMIR FILES was at 76 crore nett.

THE KERALA STORY had an extraordinary second weekend with collections over 50 crore nett as it collected almost 54 crore nett. The collections are far better than the first weekend which was just under 34 crore nett. The overall total is now 131 crore nett which is second best of 2023 after PATHAAN and there is still a lot to come.

THE KERALA STORY is insane in Mumbai circuit which is at 50 crore nett plus till date as the cities in Maharashtra racked up insane numbers including a metro like Pune. The film has also done fantastic in North but comparatively the numbers are lower than Mumbai circuit.

The film still could go anywhere and if second Monday gets into double digits then you cannot even write off 300 crore nett. A realistic total at the moment would be 225 crore nett but when films trend like this, they usually go way past realistic numbers.

THE KERALA STORY went into overdrive on its second Saturday with collections of 19 crore nett which means a total of 108 crore nett. The film has crossed the business of KISI KA BHAI KISI KI JAAN in just nine days and will cross the business of TU JHOOTHI MAIN MAKKAAR in ten days.

The film is being driven by Maharashtra with centres like Pune showing collections which are over performing by a margin. The cinemas in Pune have the highest collections which is rare as normally it will be cinemas in Mumbai and Delhi that score the most. The Mumbai circuit number has comfortably crossed the 40 crore nett mark.

The second week collections of the film may also challenge the second week collections of PATHAAN.

THE KERALA STORY was rock steady on its eight day as it collected an outstanding 11.50 crore nett which is similar to Thursday. But it would have been a surprise if the film had gone higher as it had remained rock steady on the weekdays and the weekend ticket rates came into play.

This has taken the eight day total of the film to 89 crore nett and it will cross the business of KISI KA BHAI KISI KI JAAN in nine days and TU JHOOTHI MAIN MAKKAAR in 10-11 days. Thank God for small mercies that it will not get anywhere near PATHAAN unless a miracle happens. The 200 crore nett mark is there for the film and weekdays will tell if the film can challenge THE KASHMIR FILES.

THE KERALA STORY has had issues in various states but the bottom line it is doing fantastically well wherever it is being allowed to play. The film has issues in Kerala but exhibitors are still playing and it managed to collect 36 lakhs nett in the state and will probably beat all Hindi films in Kerala post the pandemic except PATHAAN, BRAHMASTRA and '83. Mumbai is extraordinary with business of around 33 crore nett in eight days.

THE KERALA STORY remained rock steady on the last day of the week with another double digit day giving it a first week total of 77.50 crore nett. The collections of the film remain higher on Thursday than Monday and that too by more than 10%.

The collections may well go up today again as there is intrigue to watch the film which is being sold as a true story and it is working big time for the film. There is also advantage of weekend ticket rates which should give a boost to collections. There are a few new releases but they are unlikely to make much difference to this film.

THE KERALA STORY is practically certain to collect over 200 crore nett and it is basically about where it will stand in the final as compared to THE KASHMIR FILES. The fact that there are far less block bookings for this film probably makes it a better performance anyway even if stays short of THE KASHMIR FILES in terms of lifetime business.

THE KERALA STORY made more gains on Wednesday as it collected 11.75 crore nett to take its total to 66 crore nett in six days. The loss of business in West Bengal is not really making much difference as the film is going up in all circuits since Monday.

THE KASHMIR FILES did business of 96 crore nett in week one and 108 crore nett in week two and here the first week is going to be short by around 15-20%. But there is good chance that the second week here is going to be better as well. It is locked that the weekend will be better.

On the present trend, the film is practically certain to cross the 200 crore mark and its probably how much higher does it go. The numbers can go higher and its quite likely that the highest single day is yet to come for the film.

THE KERALA STORY is on a huge run as collections went up on Tuesday to 11 crore nett. This came with 50 lakhs nett apprx lost in West Bengal as the film was taken out of screens in the state by Monday night due to the ban on the film. The jump on Tuesday is 10% but in real terms it will be close to 15% due to this West Bengal ban.

The total of the film is now 54 crore nett with the film doing extraordinary business in Mumbai circuit and the Central India circuits. The trending is insane with caveat being that it has been seen before with a similar film THE KASHMIR FILES. So, the surprise and shock that was there with that film is not really here with THE KERALA STORY. One point to note is that the collections of THE KERALA STORY are more organic than THE KASHMIR FILES as it had a lot block bookings taken out which is not the case here.

The wait is now where the film lands on Friday and for a film like this, it is difficult to judge where that will land. Although there is a long way to go, it would be no surprise that the film is eventually challenging the collections of THE KASHMIR FILES.
