TERI BAATON MEIN AISA ULJHA JIYA collected well in its fifth week maintaining a steady run till date. The film collected 2.25 crore nett in week which now takes the film to almost 83 crore nett. It will finish with a lifetime of 83-84 crore nett.

The number is good for the genre and it means the 100 crore nett number is possible for the regular romcoms. There were films that went over this mark like TU JHOOTHI MAIN MAKKAAR and ROCKY AUR RANI KII PREM KAHAANI but those films had heavy budgets (for the genre) and its pretty certain that sort of budgets will not be allotted to the romcoms for a few years at least.

The film has collected 80 crore nett in four weeks and the biggest plus for the film is the business in Mumbai circuit which has been very down on the genre post the pandemic. This film will get to 27 crore nett in the circuit which does not look huge but its coming with a pretty dull Gujarat and the film has a pre pandemic type of ratio between Mumbai and Delhi/UP for a romcom film. This could be seasonal but generally these type of films were being hit by Mumbai doing business which was similar to Delhi/UP.

Basically, if Mumbai circuit can perform for a film like this, then there is hope for the genre at a level. Without this circuit, its a hard struggle as the numbers in Eastern and Central India are tough for the genre and you need a Mumbai and North propping up the numbers and its been the former letting this genre down since 2021.

The Friday boost has meant that there is no growth on Saturday or Sunday which was pretty much the same scenario with the other holdover, FIGHTER.

The total collections of the film are almost 72 crore nett but the collections will probably get lower from here on especially on the weekdays. The film hit the 10 crore nett mark in week three which will take it to 75 crore nett apprx in three weeks which is a total that no one in the industry expected this film to get.

The film has also scored well in overseas with collections standing at around $4.5 million after the third weekend. A huge rom com like TU JHOOTHI MAIN MAKKAAR did $5.1 million and this film will maybe end around 5% less which is a very good result for this film.

TERI BAATON MEIN AISA ULJHA JIYA continued to well on its third Friday as it collected 2.25 crore nett to take its overall total to 66.50 crore nett. The film got good benefit of the discounted rates as collections otherwise would have been down at 1.25 crore or maybe 1.50 crore nett on a best case scenario. In short, its added a good 1 crore nett.

The film is now comfortably crossing the 75 crore nett mark and may do so by the end of its third week and its looking a 80 crore nett plus lifetime total for the film. This will the highest total for a Shahid Kapoor starrer after PADMAAVAT and KABIR SINGH and will be beating similar post pandemic films like SATYAPREM KI KATHA and JUGJUGG JEEYO.

The growth will be minimal if it does come on Saturday but the Friday result for the film ensures another good weekend and possibly another double digit week for the film.

The film is a solid success even though it was written off on its first Monday within the industry as a rejected film but its going into the third week with strong collections. SATYAPREM KI KATHA and JUGJUGG JEEYO had both collected 17 crore nett in the second week and this film is comfortable ahead of both films in week two though it had a lower first week.

The film now should easily cross the 75 crore nett mark and maybe even go to the 80 crore nett mark. With a likely $5 million total overseas, it is a good result for the film all round and for the genre which can survive with medium budgeted films where costs don't go over the 100 crore mark.

The film will be standing at around 62-63 crore nett after two weeks depending on the trend over the next few days which ensures the film will cross 70 crore nett and then the third week will determine if the film can go towards the 80 crore nett mark.

SATYAPREM KI KATHA did 75 crore nett and JUGJUGG JEEYO did 78 crore nett and if the film could beat this two films, it would be solid result for the film as no one would have expected this film to go this far before release or even on release. The Overseas numbers are already well ahead of SATYAPREM KI KATHA and will beat JUGJUGG JEEYO by the end of its third weekend. The film has now crossed 100 crore worldwide as it stands at 104 crore after 11 days.

Also, the weekend numbers are good enough to tell that a film will not just hold up if there is an offer and it will need some audience support. No doubt it will be seen as the buy one get one offer pushed the film which it probably did but not to the extent most will think. The film was doing decent business over the weekdays but it was coming with the buy one get one offer; so, you don't really know where the film stands.

Now with this second Saturday, it means its just not because of the offer that the film was holding up as if that was the case, then the film would have not got this sort number up when the offer went away. The film has crossed the 50 crore nett mark and is now heading for business which will be on the lines of what JUGJUGG JEEYO and SATYAPREM KI KATHA did. There was a little less growth in some of the centres which outperformed on day one but generally it was a good result for the film.

This sets up for the film a comfortable double digit number on Sunday which was a must for the film after the opening day. As the film has an urban bias, it will be no surprise if growth is a little curtailed for the film on Sunday.

The weekend business gives the film a chance and it all depends what it does over the next 10-12 days. The Monday number is crucial for its long term prospects but there is a buy one get one offer out there from today which will help the collections along until it is there. If the film holds better due to the offer, then it will still be about whether it can stand alone post the offer.

The film is likely to end the first seven days with collections with 42.5-43 crore nett and then its all about where the film can go from here. So far, the film has shown a good trend post the weekend but collections are elevated by the buy one get one free offer and that is what leaves a question mark over where the film actually stands.

The offer is standing on Thursday and Friday as well. So, its just a wait watch situation as to where the film stands without the offer. You would hope that the film has some merits for these holds and its not just the offer as if its the offer, then its going to send a bad example and will open the flood gates for others to go the same way which will not be good for the box office.

The weekday collections of the film have been boosted by the buy one get one offer but they have also held well from Monday - Thursday as the drop is only 10-12% and that too with a big day of Valentines Day in the middle.

The first week collections of the film are lower than the likes of JUGJUGG JEEYO and ROCKY AUR RANI KII PREM KAAANI though the latter was a far bigger film. TERI BAATON MEIN AISA ULJHA JIYA did pretty well on day one collecting in the 6.5-6.75 crore nett range on as collections improved post the morning shows. Its a decent collection especially considering the morning initial though its less than ROCKY AUR RANI KII PREM KAHAANI, JUGJUGG JEEYO and SATYAPREM KI KATHA though the first two named are bigger films.

The film put up its best numbers in the urban centres especially Delhi NCR and Bangalore. The core Hindi circuits did not collect well as the subject will not relate much as its that typical Hindi rom com with a certain upper middle class glamorous look which worked well before the pandemic but has a lesser audience now.

Still, the film has done well enough to give it a chance as there should be good growth on Saturday and then the crucial Sunday which has to push up if the film is to have a chance to sustain post the weekend. Obviously, its not expected the mass audiences will come on Sunday but the families in the metros and mini metros will be a must and if they come out, it should consolidate well on Sunday. 

The film has good numbers overseas and looks to be heading for a $2.5 million weekend which is very good for a Shahid Kapoor starrer. The overseas market is generally in good shape for Hindi films and overall collections look stronger than before the pandemic for like to like films.
