O'Romeo collects 59.50 cr in 4 weeks; 93 cr worldwide gross

O'ROMEO took its four week collection in India to almost 60 crore nett and and there is not much to come as it could add another 1 crore nett on a best case scenario. The film has seen dropping collections every week despite the limited competition. Moreover, the initial was not good also as the film saw a 27.50 crore nett first weekend and that was with adds.

The overseas figures are no better as the the market which could have done well was USA/Canada but that will be wrapping up with a little $1 million. The rest never had much of a chance and the film has done $2.3 million and is running in very few cinemas this week. This takes the Worldwide figure to 93 crore.

For a comparison, KAMINEY did 71 crore worldwide and HAIDER did 79 crore worldwide but the former was released in 2009 and the latter was 2014 and the costs were much lower. KAMINEY and HAIDER were moderate successes due to the costs while O'ROMEO becomes a huge flop because of far higher costs.

The worldwide collections of O'ROMEO till date are as follows.
India - 72 crore (59.50 crore nett)
Overseas - 21 crore ($2.325 million)
TOTAL - 93 crore

O'Romeo collects 57.24 cr in 3 weeks

O'ROMEO collected a poor 4.75 crore nett in its third week which takes the film to a total of 57 crore nett and its looking an end of around 60 crore nett for the film. This has come with the Buy One get One Offer being on almost every day over the first two weeks. There was also some feeding in the initial week which makes fair value figures less than what they will show.

This director combo has had films like KAMINEY and HAIDER, which saw modest results but with O'ROMEO, even that is not possible as it has gone badly wrong. The costs are just too high this time for the dry content and the business is nowhere enough to even cover. The best figures will come in Mumbai which will do 20 crore nett while Delhi/UP will do around 15 crore nett.

The film has actually under preformed in a circuit like Mysore considering the gentry content of the film. The Overseas is no better with the film looking at $2.4 million close. The US/Canada market will end up at around $1 million.

The numbers for O'ROMEO till date are as follows.
Friday - 7,50,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 11,00,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 8,25,00,000 apprx

O'ROMEO continued its poor run on its second Monday collecting a little over 1 crore nett and the film is still yet to hit 50 crore nett. The film is said to be action/thriller type of film but its turning out out be a comedy within the industry as these 100 crore worldwide posters do the rounds like they do for the South films. The fact is that the film has had the buy one get one free offer more or less everyday since release and its probably this offer that has squeezed the film into the FLOP category. Otherwise, it would probably have been a DISASTER. It has outright rejection from the paying public.

The numbers for O'ROMEO till date are as follows.

------------------------------------
O'ROMEO has fared poorly on Overseas as well as it looks to end its business somewhere around the $2.5 million mark. Like India, Overseas saw a big fall in the second weekend coming from a very so so first weekend. The film will do less than KAMINEY (2009) but more than HAIDER (2014) as far as the overseas market goes. But this is a comparison in terms of the names concerned in the films only as the costs of O'ROMEO are far far higher than those films.

The business is low in all overseas markets though US/Canada will be best where it should cross the $1 million mark. The worldwide figure is around 80 crore in 12 days and the 100 crore mark looks out of reach considering the level of collections at present. It has to be noted that the India business is coming with a consistent Buy One Get One Free Offer since release and its even on at the moment which has probably given the collections a 8-10% boost. Takes this out and the film could have ended up with a final total under 50 crore nett.

The worldwide collections of O'ROMEO till date are as follows.
India -  60 crore (49.75 crore nett)
Overseas -  20 crore ($2.20 million)
TOTAL - 80 crore

O'ROMEO had a dull second weekend collecting just 7.25 crore nett adding to the 40 crore nett in the first week which takes the film to 47.25 crore nett. The drop in collections from the first weekend is around 75% and this is too high when the opening collections are not good. You need to be dropping 50% or ideally even less. There was the match on Sunday but even putting that aside, the weekend was going nowhere.

This director-actor combo has had films like KAMINEY and HAIDER which saw modest results but even those AVERAGE results are a dream as the film FLOPS badly. Its almost two months into the year and four major films have released. While BORDER 2 and MARDAANI 3 are fine, O'ROMEO joins IKKI as the second dud of the year.

O'Romeo collects 41.75 cr in 8 days; Tu Yaa Main 4.35 cr

Box Office India Trade Network

O'ROMEO collected 1.75 crore nett on its second Friday which is around 15% down from the previous day. The buy one get one free offer still remains which will be adding to the business though maybe in the 10-20 lakh range. However, that still can be around 10% of the business for the film. The offer is there on Saturday also when the film can show growth even without it but obviously it wont be the same growth.

The film now stands at 41.75 crore nett and should get some good growth over the weekend but it will hardly matter as the first week is dull and actuals will be even less than 40 crore nett due to the film being helped along through the week.

The numbers for O'ROMEO till date are as follows.
Friday - 7,50,00,000 apprx

O'ROMEO is a FLOP as collections dropped fast from Wednesday when the only aid for the film came in the form of buy one get one free scheme. The collections of the film in week one are 40 crore nett and Thursday was down to 2 crore nett apprx. There will be a further drop today or on a best case scenario, it can get the same number as Thursday.

The film managed to keep its numbers at a fair level until Tuesday but this was coming with the help of manufactured collections. And when that came out, the collections came down. The BOGO scheme is there but that can only help to an extent. The film looks to have fared better in Mumbai circuit but even that cant be called average. Now it remains to be seen if the film can get to around 60 crore nett and that will depend a lot on the second weekend.

The numbers for O'ROMEO till date are as follows.
Friday - 7,50,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 11,00,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 8,25,00,000 apprx
Monday - 4,25,00,000 apprx

TU YAA MAIN has also fared poorly with 4 crore nett plus in the first week and it wont add much more from here. The film has not done well and irrespective of whatever type of content the film is and wherever the collections are, at least the figures are clean.

The collections of TU YAA MAIN are as follows.

O'Romeo collects 38 cr in 6 days; Tu Yaa Main 3.80 cr

O Romeo vs Tu Yaa Main Collection day 1
Box Office India Trade Network

O'ROMEO had a big drop on Wednesday as it collected 2.75 crore nett and this was despite the buy one get one free offer. So, it still has to go lower and it remains to be seen how long the offers remains. It is still there today and hence, even on Thursday, the real value will not come out. The drop is 35% from the previous day.

The six day collection of the film is 38 crore nett and it should be a first week of 41.50 crore nett which is pretty much similar to TERI BAATON MEIN AISA ULJHA JIYA. But this film has higher costs than that film and the holds on weekdays are not as strong as that film. That film also saw similar offer on the weekdays.

There is no major competition this week despite a couple of releases. It remains to be see where the film lands on Friday. The film has found it tough going and that is the reason why you get the attempts to manufacture the collections.

The numbers for O'ROMEO till date are as follows.
Friday - 7,50,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 11,00,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 8,25,00,000 apprx
Monday - 4,25,00,000 apprx

TU YAA MAIN also saw a drop on Wednesday and will probably do a little over 4 crore nett over the week.

O'ROMEO dropped a little under 45% on Monday but there is disparity in the collections with the national chains dropping more than the rest and by a margin which is not normal on a Monday be it a HIT film or FLOP film. The Monday trend makes the film look like a film catering to the mass centres. There was the buy one get one offer on but even that normally helps more in the bigger multiplexes.

The national chains (PVR Inox, Cinepolis) contribution is 50% which is the sort of contribution that huge releases like ANIMAL, JAWAN and PATHAAN have which pretty much tells that there is some healthy manufacturing in the figures. Its about waiting till the dust settles for this one but even if you take all the numbers till date at face value, they are still not good.

If the film trends well beyond into the second weekend and beyond without aid, it would be a different story. Basically the film has been given crutches to walk on Monday and it remains to be seen if it can walk without these crutches; the running part is way off yet. The numbers for the film date are 31 crore nett in four days and lets see where it goes from here.

The numbers for O'ROMEO till date are as follows.
Friday - 7,50,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 11,00,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 8,25,00,000 apprx
Monday - 4,25,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 31,00,00,000 apprx

TU YAA MAIN collected collected 40 lakh nett apprx on Monday taking its total collections to 3 crore nett. The film has not done well and irrespective of whatever type of content the film is and wherever the collections are, at least the figures are clean.

The collections of TU YAA MAIN are as follows.
Friday - 50,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 1,35,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 75,00,000 apprx
Monday - 40,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 3,00,00,000 apprx
------------------------------------
O'ROMEO collected 4.25 crore nett on Tuesday which is similar to Monday but the film had a buy one get one free offer up to Rs 100 as well as being played at discounted rates which meant giving tickets away at super low rates. Its unlikely that an offer has been put on the discounted Tuesday or at least not a on a major film like O'ROMEO.

On paper, all this is making the weekday collections look reasonable but its manufactured box office, be it through offers or buys and the real level will come when and if all this goes out of the window. The disparity in collections was less on Tuesday as the national chains coming closer to what they should be which means smaller cinemas were bolstered less obviously due to the double whammy of offer and discounted rates.

The offer remains on Wednesday with a bigger discount of Rs 125 compared to the Rs 100 on Tuesday. So again, it means that real level of the film will not come out. The makers can keep the offer there till the film remains in cinema but eventually the affect of it will get less and less. Hence, its just about waiting and seeing how this unfolds from here. The numbers for the film date are 35 crore nett in five days and despite the aid being given this is still below the mark.

The numbers for O'ROMEO till date are as follows.
Friday - 7,50,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 11,00,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 8,25,00,000 apprx
Monday - 4,25,00,000 apprx
Tuesday - 4,25,00,000 apprx

TU YAA MAIN's collection was a little higher on Tuesday compared to Wednesday as it takes its total to almost 3.50 crore nett in five days.

O Romeo vs Tu Yaa Main Collection day 1
Box Office India Trade Network

O'ROMEO struggled at the box office over the first weekend as it collected almost 27 crore nett. The opening day was not good but it was good enough to keep the film in the race if merits where there. However, the film could not really get the growth needed on Saturday and Sunday was always going to be tough with the cricket match.

The film needed a 70-80% jump on Saturday and it fell short of that and then Sunday dropped. The Sunday drop was pretty much in alignment of the other releases so that is normal. The weekend collections are pretty much the same as TERI BAATON MEIN AISA ULJHA JIYA which did 26 crore nett over three days but it had a lower start. The trend of that film is stronger and although O'ROMEO may have been hit by the match on Sunday, it got a boost on Saturday for Valentine's Day which equals things up.

The film has the buy one get one offer on Monday which will help to an extent but the fact that the offer is there on the fourth day of release pretty much tells the film has not really worked the way it should. The offer being there on Monday means you are signaling to the industry that it has disappointed over the weekend.

The collections of O'ROMEO are as follows.
Friday - 7,50,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 11,00,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 8,25,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 25,75,000 apprx

The other release TU YAA MAIN collected 2.50 crore nett plus over its first weekend. The film got benefit of Valentine's Day but the fall was also bigger the next day than the other releases being screened including O'ROMEO. There are hardly any collections outside Mumbai and Mysore. These two circuits probably contribute around 50% of the business.

The collections of TU YAA MAIN are as follows.
Friday - 50,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 1,35,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 75,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 1,60,00,000 apprx

O'Romeo collects 18.50 cr in 2 days; Tu Yaa Main 1.85 cr

Box Office India Trade Network

O'ROMEO collected around 7.50 crore nett on its first day which is a fair collection for its content which does look on the darker side but not for the costs associated with the film. There was a term used here years back of European directors and you would have expected them to fizzle out from making motion pictures for theatrical by now but its not totally happened yet. Basically the film is on the expensive side and it becomes about the growth and more than that where it goes from Monday onward. Ideally, the film needed to be around 9-10 crore nett on the first day.

The film has actually scored a little better in the mass pockets as the figures here are coming out higher than they should be for a film like this. However, this can be because there could be some of that usual fiddle which goes on nowadays with practically all releases but its best to sit on the fence after DHURANDHAR and lets see how the growth plays out in these parts which will give a better idea.

The growth should come out more than normal as its Valentines Day which should add to the Saturday trajectory.  Although it may not be that romantic film for Valentines Day, it has been seen that it hardly matters and generally more people come to the cinemas on February 14. The film is dependent on the Saturday growth and then what happens on Monday. The first day number is not good but its just about good enough for the film to be in the race and now its on the merit of the film.

The other release TU YAA MAIN is a dull fare as it collects around 50 lakhs nett and this film even had some promotion to push it but the public has kept away. The trailer is weird to put it mildly and when its like this it means appeal for a very small minority. This film is in the romantic zone. So, Valentines Day can help a little more but where can you go with a 50 lakh start and limited urban appeal.
-----------------------------------
O'ROMEO showed growth of around 50% on its second day as it collected 11 crore nett adding to the 7.50 crore nett it collected on the first day. The film now stands at 18.50 crore nett after two days which is a so so collection. The growth is actually better than the 50% as there was a fiddle on the first day and actual collections were a bit less. The second day looks clean but you never know.

The growth would be good had it not been Valentines Day and as the other films have jumped much more, the growth here should have been more. O'ROMEO may not be that valentines type of films with dark elements but BORDER 2 is a testosterone film rather than a Valentines film. That film has trebled its collections and the other main films playing are also similar. O'ROMEO was never going to go three times up but a 70-80% jump was probably the need of the hour on Valentines Day.

It is Mahashivratri on Sunday followed by the big cricket match. The holiday factor may not work as a plus as its falling on the Sunday and then the match is sure to hit which pretty much means it will be a struggle to get the Saturday numbers up. There is a good chance the weekend collections will stay below 30 crore nett and then it becomes about the weekdays.

The collections of O'ROMEO are as follows.
Friday - 7,50,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 11,00,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 18,50,00,000 apprx

The other release TU YAA MAIN collected 1.35 crore nett on Saturday showing a jump of 160% plus and this was probably more of a Valentines Day film for the metro youth. So, the collections showed a good jump but even here it probably had to be more as films like BORDER 2 and MARDAANI 3 have had bigger jumps. It will find it much harder on Sunday as Sunday is about the audience outside metros and this film will hardly have a audience there.

The collections of TU YAA MAIN are as follows.
Friday - 50,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 1,35,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 1,85,00,000 apprx
