It is not only CHANDU CHAMPION that suffered with KALKI 2898 AD but even an accepted film like MUNJYA has also felt the force of the South film as its collections have also pretty much gone also. But the job has been done and the film is the biggest HIT of the year so far though KALKI 2898 AD may have something to say about that.
The only thing here now is that the 100 crore nett mark maybe difficult for the film due to the KALKI 2898 AD wave. However, it hardly makes much difference as 95 and 100 crore are the same for this film thing though the latter is a benchmark.
The collections for MUNJYA till date are as follows.
Week One - 35,77,00,000
Week Two - 32,00,00,000 apprx
Friday - 3,00,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 5,25,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 6,75,00,000 apprx
Monday - 2,15,00,000 apprx
Tuesday - 2,00,00,000 apprx
Wednesday - 1,85,00,000 apprx
Thursday - 50,00,000 apprx
Third Week - 21,50,00,000 apprx
Friday - 75,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 90,02,00,000 apprx

MUNJYA showed an excellent jump on its third Saturday of 75% as it collected 5.25 crore nett as the film continues to do extraordinary business in the Maharashtra belt. Mumbai circuit now stands at the 30 crore nett mark beating films like TERI BAATON MEIN AISA ULJHA JIYA and CREW, ARTICLE 370 will be beaten soon enough.
The film is heading towards the 100 crore nett mark with probably just the obstacle of KALKI 2898 AD ahead of it. If the films holds at 50-60% of the third week, it should be enough as its KALKI 2898 AD which will threaten the film's run in Mumbai circuit and the releases after that look less for this circuit.
MUNJYA is going to be comfortably the best third week of the year and may even be the first to hit the 20 crore nett mark in the third week.
The collections for MUNJYA till date are as follows.
Week One - 35,77,00,000
Friday - 3,50,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 6,25,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 8,00,00,000 apprx
Monday - 5,25,00,000 apprx
Tuesday - 3,25,00,000 apprx
Wednesday - 3,00,00,000 apprx
Thursday - 2,75,00,000 apprx
Second Week - 32,00,00,000
Friday - 3,00,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 5,25,00,000 apprx
Third Week - 8,25,00,000 apprx (2 Days)
TOTAL - 73,67,00,000 apprx
----------------------------------
MUNJYA recorded another excellent weekend of 15 crore nett apprx which takes the film above the 80 crore nett. The drop is only 15% from last weekend but this week, there will not be a Monday holiday which will mean a bigger drop over the week.
The trend of the film is super strong. If we take out the holiday factors, its probably trending at around 20-25% weekly drops. This will change in the fourth week due to the release of KALKI 2898 AD and it as about how big the drop is.
MUNJYA is practically certain to become the first film to cross 20 crore nett this year in week three and this will be with a curtailed week due to the Thursday release of KALKI 2898 AD. The film will also beat the top grosser of the year FIGHTER in CP Berar and many other centres in Maharashtra.
The collections for MUNJYA till date are as follows.
Week One - 35,77,00,000
Friday - 3,50,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 6,25,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 8,00,00,000 apprx
Monday - 5,25,00,000 apprx
Tuesday - 3,25,00,000 apprx
Wednesday - 3,00,00,000 apprx
Thursday - 2,75,00,000 apprx
Second Week - 32,00,00,000 apprx
Friday - 3,00,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 5,25,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 6,75,00,000 apprx
Third Week - 15,00,00,000 apprx (3 Days)
TOTAL - 80,42,00,000 apprx
----------------------------------
MUNJYA collected in the 2-2.25 crore nett range on its third Monday to stand at 85 crore nett. The film so far has collected 17 crore nett in this week and it looks like a third week of 22 crore nett plus for the film.
The film has now beaten the business of the likes of ZARA HATKE ZARA BACHKE, TERI BAATON MEIN AISA ULJHA JIYA and CREW and should be standing at 90 crore nett after three weeks. The drop will be coming in week four but even if its a 70% drop, that will still be enough for the film to reach the 100 crore nett mark.
MUNJYA is now ahead of CHANDU CHAMPION everywhere except NCR, Bangalore and a few centres of Punjab.
The collections for MUNJYA till date are as follows.
Week One - 35,77,00,000
Friday - 3,50,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 6,25,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 8,00,00,000 apprx

MUNJYA continued to do well with around 3 crore nett coming on Wednesday taking the film to 65 crore nett. The second week will be an excellent 32 crore nett which is the third best number of the year after FIGHTER and SHAITAAN. The film should be targeting the highest third week of the year though with the big film KALKI 2898 AD coming on Thursday, it is a lot about the weekend.
The two week numbers of ZARA HATKE ZARA BACHKE were almost 62 crore nett and this film is tracking well above that film. MUNJYA will cross the Mumbai circuit business of that film is just 14-15 days though in North it is not doing as well as ZARA HATKE ZARA BACHKE.
The collections for MUNJYA till date are as follows.
Week One - 35,77,00,000
Friday - 3,50,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 6,25,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 8,00,00,000 apprx
Monday - 5,25,00,000 apprx
Tuesday - 3,25,00,000 apprx
Wednesday - 3,00,00,000 apprx
Second Week - 29,25,00,000 (6 days)
TOTAL - 65,02,00,000 apprx
--------------------------------------
MUNJYA scored an excellent second week of 32 crore nett as the film collected very strongly even in the weekdays of the second week and that too after the Eid holiday on Monday. The drop from the second week was only 10% which is outstanding especially as it had a new release for competition. But the stronger holds from Tuesday were probably down to the competition being weak and exhibitors increasing screenings of MUNJYA.
The film is extraordinary in Maharashtra as CP Berar should go to 6 crore nett and for comparison SHAITAAN did 7.50 crore nett and FIGHTER did 6.50 crore nett. Hence it won't be a surprise if at the end of the run, MUNJYA actually goes higher than FIGHTER in these circuits. Mumbai circuit is also superb with collections comfortably over 25 crore nett in two weeks.
The collections of the film are around 66 crore nett and its pretty certain the film is going to cross the 90 crore nett mark. The 100 crore nett mark will depend on what happens to the collections when KALKI 2898 AD releases next week.
The collections for MUNJYA till date are as follows.
Week One - 35,77,00,000
Friday - 3,50,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 6,25,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 8,00,00,000 apprx
Monday - 5,25,00,000 apprx
Tuesday - 3,25,00,000 apprx
Wednesday - 3,00,00,000 apprx
Thursday - 2,75,00,000 apprx
Second Week - 32,00,00,000
TOTAL - 65,67,00,000 apprx
--------------------------------------
MUNJYA collected 2.75 crore nett on its third Friday which is the highest third Friday collection of the year going past the numbers of SHAITAAN. The film now stands at 68.50 crore nett and can be the first film this year to have a shot at a 20 crore nett third week.
The week could be curtailed as the big budget KALKI 2898 AD will release and initially is sure to dominate the showcasing. MUNJYA is a SUPER HIT film and the biggest medium/budget film post pandemic after THE KASHMIR FILES and THE KERALA STORY. Today, small/medium probably means films having total cost under 50 crore
It remains to be seen if the film can reach the 100 crore nett and if it was in this situation a month or so back, it would be easy but now, there are going there are obstacles in the the way with films every week.
The collections for MUNJYA till date are as follows.
Week One - 35,77,00,000
Friday - 3,50,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 6,25,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 8,00,00,000 apprx
Monday - 5,25,00,000 apprx
Tuesday - 3,25,00,000 apprx
Wednesday - 3,00,00,000 apprx
Thursday - 2,75,00,000 apprx
Second Week - 32,00,00,000
Friday - 2,75,00,000 apprx

MUNJYA had a fantastic second weekend with collections of 17.75 crore nett which is just 10% down from the first weekend and total collections stand at 53.50 crore nett. There is a holiday on Monday for Eid. So, the growth on Sunday could have been better especially considering that even a Hollywood release like INSIDE OUT 2, which would be flat on Sunday, managed 25% growth. The new release CHANDU CHAMPION also had a bigger jump.
It may be that the film has a bigger ratio of business coming from Maharashtra and that area showed less growth. The film has the holiday on Monday to put up another good number due to which a 30 crore nett week is still possible for the film.
The film has competed well with the new release CHANDU CHAMPION and is only 10-15% down on that film despite being in its second weekend. The overall collections may be less but occupancy is better practically everywhere.
The collections for MUNJYA till date are as follows.
Friday - 4,25,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 7,25,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 8,25,00,000 apprx
Monday - 4,00,00,000 apprx
Tuesday - 4,00,00,000 apprx
Wednesday - 4,00,00,000 apprx
Thursday - 4,00,00,000 apprx
Week One - 35,75,00,000 apprx
Friday - 3,50,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 6,25,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 8,00,00,000 apprx
Second Weekend - 17,75,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 53,50,00,000 apprx
---------------------------------------
MUNJYA continues its strong run at the box office as it picked up over 5 crore nett on Monday which was a holiday for Eid. The film saw a jump of 50% from Friday and collections were 35% down from the Sunday. The business remains excellent in Maharashtra.
The film has so far collected 23 crore nett in its second week and should get to around 30 crore nett which compares very well with the first week which was a little under 36 crore nett. The film had competition of a big release like CHANDU CHAMPION last week while this week, the competition is much weaker but its likely the drop will be higher in week three. The film is a SUPER HIT but that third Friday is crucial if the film is have a shot at 100 crore nett.
The collections for MUNJYA till date are as follows.
Week One - 35,77,00,000
Friday - 3,50,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 6,25,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 8,00,00,000 apprx
Monday - 5,25,00,000 apprx
Second Weekend - 23,00,00,000 (4 days)
TOTAL - 58,77,00,000 apprx
---------------------------------------
MUNJYA had a fantastic hold on its second Tuesday as it collected 3.25 crore nett to take its total to 62 crore nett in eleven days. The hold has come after the holiday on Monday and it could have been the first noticeable fall for the film. However, it has come through with flying colours.
The second week of the film is now looking at around 32 crore nett which is just a 10% drop from the first week. This number on Tuesday means that the 100 crore nett number is now a very realistic target for the film. The film has been helped by some multiplexes switching shows back to MUNJYA from Monday.
The collections for MUNJYA till date are as follows.
Week One - 35,77,00,000
Friday - 3,50,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 6,25,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 8,00,00,000 apprx
Monday - 5,25,00,000 apprx
Tuesday - 3,25,00,000 apprx

MUNJYA showed a good upturn on its second Saturday of around 75% as it collected 6-6.25 crore nett which is regular growth for the second Saturday. The film is looking at a second weekend which will be less than 15% lower than the first weekend with competition of a new release and that is where the victory of the film lies.
The first week business of the film was very similar to a film like ARTICLE 370 but the there will be a healthy difference in the second week which pretty ensures the film will comfortably do more business than ARTICLE 370. The test for the film is where the collections are post the Eid holiday on Monday as till date, the holds are super strong.
The film will crossing the business of a film like CREW in CP Berar by today and will possibly beat TERI BAATON MEIN AISA ULJHA JIYA by the end of the week as the film perform is doing excellent business in Maharashtra. The weak link for the film is North India as East Punjab is low and Delhi/UP could be better. But as the film has no stars and the content has a Maharashtra bias, you take the collections in North as very good as well despite the under performance.
The collections for MUNJYA till date are as follows.
Friday - 4,25,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 7,25,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 8,25,00,000 apprx

MUNJYA sustained very well on its second Friday with 3.50 crore nett which is a drop of around 15% which is par for the course with a release like CHANDU CHAMPION for competition. The competition is mainly in terms of the screen space reduction and not the content as MUNJYA remains first choice in most of the country. On Saturday, even the areas where it is behind it should go ahead.
The way the film trended on the weekdays, it maybe could have got the same number as Thursday but there was no rise in ticket price which happens and allows the sustaining films to get to their Thursday number. The 3.50 crore nett number itself is still good and there will be a holiday to boost on Monday as well which will mean another strong week.
The film stands at 39 crore nett and there is plenty of gas left in the tank at the moment. The 75 crore nett mark looks a cruise for the film but its about how much higher can it go than 75 crore nett.
The collections for MUNJYA till date are as follows.
Friday - 4,25,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 7,25,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 8,25,00,000 apprx
Monday - 4,00,00,000 apprx

MUNJYA maintained rock steady collections as it picked up 4 crore nett again on Tuesday which is in the same range as Friday and Tuesday. The film now stands at almost 28 crore nett and will be looking at a first of around 35 crore nett.
The film has looks to have the best holds and weekday trends for the year and its all about where the second Friday lands as normally when the holds are this strong, the second Friday should be very close to the Monday and Tuesday numbers and it would be no surprise if the numbers if it gets benefit of the pricing on Friday.
Although its too early to say as there is a long way to go and there are major releases in front of it but this film has the potential to hit the 100 crore nett mark. A film like a MADGAON EXPRESS has managed almost 22 crore nett in Mumbai mainly thanks to Mumbai city, Thane and Pune and here MUNJYA is excellent across the state of Maharashtra. Hence, a 30 crore nett should be a simple task and if its around 35 crore nett or more than that, the 100 crore nett figure can be achieved.
This weeeknd will be interesting with CHANDU CHAMPION and it will be no surprise if MUNJYA is better in the Hindi circuits be Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan or CP, CI.
The collections for MUNJYA till date are as follows.
Friday - 4,25,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 7,25,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 8,25,00,000 apprx
Monday - 4,00,00,000 apprx
Tuesday - 4,00,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 27,75,00,000 apprx
----------------------------------------
MUNJYA continues its superb trending at the box office with another 4 crore nett coming on Wednesday which takes the total to almost 32 crore nett and it is a comfortable 35 crore nett plus week. The target now with these sort of holds is to have a second week which is pretty similar to the first week.
FIGHTER and SHAITAAN have the best second weeks this year at around 38 and 37 crore nett respectively. These targets maybe a step too high as they would be more than the first week of the film but when a film is on a run like this, you never write off anything.
The film should go on to become the biggest film post pandemic with a cost lower than 50 crore outside THE KASHMIR FILES and THE KERALA STORY. Those two films are driven by a different sort of elements and hence, cant be bough into the equation. MUNJYA is looking on track towards that 100 crore nett mark or close and that is a huge result for the film.
The collections for MUNJYA till date are as follows.
Friday - 4,25,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 7,25,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 8,25,00,000 apprx
Monday - 4,00,00,000 apprx
Tuesday - 4,00,00,000 apprx
Wednesday - 4,00,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 31,75,00,000 apprx
----------------------------------------
MUNJYA collected a good 36 crore nett its first week as the film held similar collections from Mon - Thu which is simply an outstanding trend. There is a drop on Friday morning compared to Thursday but it should cover as the day goes along especially with the Friday evening crowds.
The film has gone down to the 150 INR rate on Friday which was not needed as the film is hugely accepted but its probably because the new release has the INR 150 rate. As a result, the makers of MUNJYA have done the same to ensure that they don't lose consumers due to pricing. However, it does not work that way as MUNJYA is established now and has a ready audience.
The film will give the new release CHANDU CHAMPION a good run for its money as occupancy is better at places especially the smaller towns and Saturday will be interesting as it could dominate the mass circuits. The film made a collection of around 15 crore nett in Mumbai circuit and for comparison bigger films like BADE MIYAN CHOTE MIYAN and MAIDAAN did 17 and 18 crore nett respectively for lifetime business.
The collections for MUNJYA till date are as follows.
Friday - 4,25,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 7,25,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 8,25,00,000 apprx
Monday - 4,00,00,000 apprx
Tuesday - 4,00,00,000 apprx
Wednesday - 4,00,00,000 apprx
Thursday - 4,00,00,000 apprx

MUNJYA collected a fantastic 4 crore nett on Monday and is now looking a huge run at the box office for many weeks. There are big films in the way but in todays times, that does not mean much if the trailers are not up to the mark as we saw on Eid.
The drop for MUNJYA on Monday is minimal with all circuits across the board holding well from the Friday levels. The genre is front loaded and it could feel the heat at some point but being family friendly, it might override the genre factor.
The next test is the second Friday where there will be a new major release, CHANDU CHAMPION. The new release factor itself should mean a drop from the previous day but acceptance in some areas of this film looks huge. Hence, the second Friday could really hold and then no doubt the weekend will propel it.
The film is a HIT and the second Friday is going to tell how big of a HIT it becomes and in todays times when a film film actually gets accepted, it normally goes higher than most expect it to.
The collections for MUNJYA till date are as follows.
Friday - 4,25,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 7,25,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 8,25,00,000 apprx
Monday - 4,00,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 23,75,00,000 apprx
-----------------------------
MUNJYA recorded the fourth highest Monday of the year so far behind SHAITAAN, FIGHTER and CREW which are all bigger films and opened at far higher numbers. A film like ARTICLE 370 went on to do 77 crore nett and MUNJYA has a higher Monday than that film. The Friday to Monday trend is also stronger. ARTICLE 370, despite being a different genre, is probably going to be the best comparison for MUNJYA as far as box office goes and it should do better than that film.
ARTICLE 370 had seen a 30% drop on Monday and here with MUNJYA, its only around 5%. ARTICLE 370 also did far better in Mumbai with Mysore also being excellent. Elsewhere, the film did well but performance was less than Mumbai and Mysore and despite the excellent numbers of ARTICLE 370 in Mumbai, the underlying trend for MUNJYA in the circuit suggests that it can be higher than the Yami Gautam-starrer
The caveat will be showcasing as there are big films releasing in June and new films do get the upper hand in terms of showcasing in their opening weekend especially if they are big films.
The Mondays this year so far have been as follows. There are no big totals on the crucial Monday but that is down to big opener as without that a big Monday is pretty much impossible with maybe a rare exception like THE KASHMIR FILES.
1. Shaitaan - 7,28,00,000
2. Fighter - 7,07,00,000
3. Crew - 4,18,00,000
4. Munjya - 4,00,00,000 apprx
5. Article 370 - 3,46,00,000

MUNJYA did well in its first weekend as it collected almost 20 crore nett but more than the collections it had a superb weekend trend. The growth on Saturday was fantastic coming off discounted rates on Friday and although Sunday does not look huge, this came with the big cricket match. Without the match, it could have been a 5-10% higher collection on Sunday.
The film is excellent in Maharashtra which will mean very good numbers in Mumbai and CP Berar circuits and if the film really sustains for the next few weeks, then CP Berar could be challenging some of the bigger films released this year. The film has also done very well in Gujarat (with a blockbuster Gujrati film JHAMKUDI for competition), Rajasthan, CI and East. The collections are lesser in North and South.
The Monday collections of the film should certify an outright HIT status which be the third of the year after SHAITAAN and ARTICLE 370. It has a chance to go on from here to a big number with the only doubt being the genre is a bit front loaded. On top of that, the film has punched way higher than it should on this cast in the Hindi circuits. The next four days and how well it competes with the competition on Friday will probably determine where the film goes.
The weekend collections for MUNJYA till date are as follows.
Friday - 4,25,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 7,25,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 8,25,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 19,75,00,000 apprx

MUNJYA is set for huge box office success as it collected an excellent 7.25 crore nett on Saturday taking its two day total to 11.50 crore nett. The growth on day two is 70% which is extraordinary especially coming off discounted rates on day one. There is the big Ind v Pak cricket match on Sunday evening which could have led to have extra Saturday growth as it may have got some of the Sunday audience but that will be minimal.
The film is doing fantastic practically all over outside the Southern markets and the key are collections in places like Maharashtra, Gujarat and CP, CI where most films have failed to collect as they should and this includes the biggest of the year like FIGHTER and SHAITAAN. For the latter, it would be Gujarat rather than the others. Basically despite being non cast, it is not just a film for a handful of cities.
The genre also does not tend to see this sort of growth but the horror being family and kid friendly, which could have a negative on day one, is now the huge plus as its gets the family audience which ensures the films trends far stronger than the genre will.
The film is going to have a huge run in Mumbai circuit which will propel the collections of the film and it could go anywhere. There are big films like CHANDU CHAMPION and KALKI 2898 AD coming over the next few weeks but the former looks a film for a few cities while the latter looks a film for maybe some circuits only. MUNJYA has scored very well on its first day as it collected around 4.25 crore nett doing very good numbers across the belt as the genre helps the collections and also the lower ticket prices. Even allowing for this, the collections are still good.
The difference between this film and the other small films is that mass circuits have excellent collections for non cast film. A circuit like CP Berar has collected similar to CREW (holiday) and more than TERI BAATON MEIN AISA ULJHA JIYA. Maharashtra, Gujarat, CI, Rajasthan and Bihar are also very good. Odisha is fantastic as the genre works there big time.
The weaker collections are in NCR, Punjab and South; the underperformance in latter is expected as the film caters to Hindi belts. The North gets affected due to no stars but these areas will eventually do well. The growth on Saturday may not be huge due to the benefit of lower rates on Friday but the film should manage in the 40-50% range which is more than good enough.
The film does seem to hold some local appeal in Maharashtra as collections here are excellent which has lead Mumbai circuit to cross the 1.50 crore nett mark. The plus is that its not just collections from Mumbai city and Pune which is the case for most Hindi films. Again the audience gives the thumbs up for more rooted film with some rural flavour rather than the typical cool urban fare for the gentry which the industry generally dishes out.
