The movie Fashion was one of the major culprits behind showstoppers getting more importance at fashion show-Mugdha Godse

“I believe Fashion was one of the major culprits behind showstoppers getting more importance at fashion shows,” smiles Mugdha Godse, as we ask her about the ongoing discussion regarding celebrity showstoppers stealing the spotlight over models at fashion shows. The model-turned-actress, who was in Ahmedabad recently for an event, talks about the changing scenario in the fashion industry, her journey as a devotional artiste and more.
‘Showstoppers bring a little drama to fashion shows’
Talking about celebrity showstoppers, Mugdha elaborates, “I believe fashion shows need a dramatic ending nowadays, and celebrity showstoppers bring that. Our fashion shows are very different, as we need Bollywood for everything. And it is working—for us as employment, for brands with their sales, and for people who can see the latest designs as well as the showstopper. So, it’s a win-win for all. In the end, the clothes are the heroes.”
‘OTT has come as a new beginning for us’
The Fashion actress, who has done web shows like Bloody Brothers and The Broken News, feels OTT has disrupted the definition of “a perfect character.” She says, “OTT has increased the scope for actors, and it shows more real characters too. There is never somebody so perfect, like we used to see in saas-bahu shows on TV. There is always a grey side to everyone in real life. OTT has shown it, and I want to do such characters.”
She adds, “Today, the best part is that there are stories for every artiste and every kind of audience. Whether you are in your 40s or even 60s, there are many stories to tell, which is a great opportunity for artistes of all age groups. OTT has come as a new beginning for us.”
‘I get to explore my spirituality through singing’
Mugdha, who made her singing debut with Krsna Vandana (an original composition featuring 108 names and qualities of Lord Krishna) last year, says, “I wouldn’t call myself a singer, as it is too much of a responsibility. Our singers have worked so hard to reach where they are. I tell everyone that I am an artiste who has found a beautiful bhaav in singing. I get to explore my spirituality in a different manner.”
Is she keen on exploring more projects as a singer? She says, “I would like to keep it devotional. I won’t say no if I am offered any other song in playback, but I won’t be performing it at a concert. For Krsna Vandana, we do performances, more like baithaks, in different cities. That feeling is different. If I want to explore my journey as a singer, it will be in that (devotional) space.”
‘Modelling industry isn’t as distinguished as before’
Talking about how the modelling industry has changed, Mugdha shares, “Modelling isn’t as distinguished as a platform as it was during my days. There are a lot of platforms available for models. Also, the harsh truth is that an influencer posting a reel is making more money than a model walking the ramp, which shows a massive shift in the industry.”
She adds, “Making reels isn’t easy either; both things require hard work. So, it all comes down to one’s choices. There are still people who love to walk the ramp just for that high we get. But modelling isn’t a separate career anymore.”
Sharing her love for the city, Mugdha who has often visited the city, says, "I love Ahmedabad and always enjoy coming here, as the city surprises me every time. This time, I saw a global coffee brand’s name written in Gujarati. It is there in Maharashtra too, but it has started happening here too, which is so good. From modern infrastructure to rooted culture, this city has everything for everyone."
On asking if she would like to work with Rahul Dev (her partner) in a project now, Mugdha shares, "Rahul and I have just wrapped up a show. As individuals, we have very strong personalities, which might be visible on the screen too. So, we usually get scripts where our characters are not involved romantically. We are offered characters which may or may not be related."

Mukul Dev, former model and familiar face in Hindi and Punjabi films, died at the age of 54 on Friday night. The actor succumbed to severe health complications after a week-long battle in the Intensive Care Unit in a hospital in Delhi. His cremation was conducted on Saturday.
Born into a Punjabi family in Delhi, Mukul was the younger brother to actor-model Rahul Dev. He is survived by his daughter Sia. After the news of his death broke, tributes from the industry began pouring in.
Actor Mugdha Godse (Rahul Dev’s partner) confirmed the news, telling us, “We are still in a state of shock. He was in ICU at a hospital in Delhi, for a week; severe health complications, and he couldn’t survive. None of us in our wildest imagination could think of this coming.”
Veteran actor Puneet Issar, who worked with Mukul in Yamla Pagla Deewana (2011), says, “Not possible, he was so fit and fine... Achcha ladka tha... Saari baatein maanne wala, khush rehna wala insaan — that was him.”
Actor Divya Dutta, a close friend and co-star in Shaatar (2023) and Iski Topi Uske Sarr (1998) shares her grief, saying, “Life is so unpredictable... And how frivolous this life is. I still can’t believe it. He was a dear friend and adorable guy.”
Actor Dipshikkha Nagppal says, “We were part of the same friend circle. Whenever he was in Mumbai from Delhi, we made it a point to catch up. He was only 54 — such a kind and wonderful soul. I can’t wrap my head around it.”
------------------------------------------------
Actor Arjan Bajwa, who was a close friend and co-star in Son Of Sardaar (2012) and web show State Of Siege 26/11 (2020), says, “What I’m feeling can’t be expressed in words. Though we worked together in Son Of Sardaar, we knew each other way before that. We’ve been in touch and talking about working together. He was writing something for me in a script. He had a great sense of humour. We’d often talk in Punjabi. It was just the Punjabi humour we would share and laugh... His laughter is ringing in my ears as I recall those precious moments.”

Mugdha Godse
The actor-model opens up on how she bagged the role of Janet Sequeira: “Madhur Bhandarkar and his team used to visit fashion shows and spend lot of time backstage. In one of our fashion weeks in Delhi, the team sat down to chat and I had the maximum insights to share. The next day, I was called to play a part in the film and I accepted it.”
While it was “a bit scary” for Godse as the “film’s story was very close to reality”, it was special nevertheless. “It was my first film and being appreciated right after my first scene by Madhur and others felt special,” shares the actor, on her debut film.

Ashwin Mushran
The actor played Rohit, an assistant to designer Vinay Khosla (played by Harsh Chhaya). “I saw that it (Rohit) was a great part and I wanted to work with Priyanka Chopra and Madhur Bhandarkar,” he tells us, adding that he was first offered Chhaya’s role.
Several supermodels were also part of the film and Mushran says working with them was a great learning experience as they were quite grounded. He says, “Everyone gives actors so much power that we think we are way more important than we really are!”
Samir Soni
The actor, who played designer Rahul Arora, a gay character, recalls a scene where he had to kiss a guy in a car: “Earlier, gay characters were portrayed in a very stereotypical way. But I wanted to do it right, so that the audience does not feel awkward or uncomfortable. I sat in the car with the actor, who was very young at that time, and I saw him shaking. I asked, ‘Kya hua?’ and his response was, ‘Bhaiyya darr lag raha hai’ (laughs). There I was, trying to get into character, and this guy called me bhaiyya!”
Soni adds that the scene was tweaked later. “I had to just give him a peck on the cheek, but he was still scared. Before the shot, I sat him down and comforted him like an elder brother, saying, ‘Listen, don’t be scared. I will do it’,” he tells us.
Who better than Mugdha Godse to teach me the sweet language Marathi-Rahul Dev

Rahul Dev firmly believes that when you are “at peace with life” and have “people who care for you”, good things are bound to happen. “Finally, I am in a phase where I have some genuine relationships — be it with my son, (partner) Mugdha (Godse, actor) and some others,” shares the actor.
He admits feeling “lost and shaken” when he lost his wife. “But my spiritual guru helped me. Now, I am spiritually stronger than ever — professionally and personally. I know how to strike the right balance in life,” says the Empire actor.
Dev believes that thinking positively has been a “game changer” for him. “I have seen people working rigorously and devoting hours to their external selves, but the problem lies deep within. The day I realised this, I worked solely on this aspect. Positivity has made me get associated with the projects that are best for me.”
The actor also believes in going the extra mile to play a role. “For instance, when the film Hunter Tootega Nai Todega came to me, I felt that my character would be best projected as a Haryanvi cop. I managed to convince my writer and maker to rework it. The results are extremely rewarding. Now, I can’t wait for the second part of the series,” he says. “I don’t fear experimenting and exploring; like, currently, I am learning Marathi, and who better than Mugdha to teach me this sweet language,” ends the actor.

Mugdha Godse and Rahul Dev have been going strong for the past eight years. In a chat with us recently, when asked about her wedding plans, the actress had told us, “No marriage plans this year. We are probably one of those happy couples, married or unmarried!”
While the two are not looking at getting married anytime soon, you can see them revel in the festivities of Karva Chauth with great fervor. Mugdha says, “Karva Chauth is a beautiful tradition and I believe in it. I fast and try to keep up with rituals. I have been celebrating the auspicious festival for many years now. I always saw my mom do it and would be excited about celebrating it when my time came (smiles). It’s a great feeling and a lovely tradition.”
What makes the festival even more remarkable is that her partner, Rahul, too, fasts along with her. She says, “That’s the sweetest thing. We feed each other after we see the moon.”
Taking us through the routine for the day, Mugdha shares, “I start by eating high proteins in the morning and keep activities to a low throughout the day. Rahul and I visit the temple and spend time together all day.”
The couple that celebrates festivals together, stays strong and grows together. She says, “I feel these festivals, especially Karva Chauth, bring couples closer. The sweetness of sacrifice and thought about each other strengthens the bond.”

Om Puri with Rati Agnihotri and Sunil C Sinha
As Om Puri’s swansong Khela Hobe gears up for theatrical run, director says the movie was ready since 2019-end
Uma Ramasubramanian (MID-DAY; June 1, 2022)
Over five years after his demise, Om Puri’s swansong Khela Hobe is gearing up for release. Director Sunil C Sinha’s movie tapped into the late actor’s humorous streak, depicting him as a leader who contests elections for several years unsuccessfully, believing that he has the public’s support.
Though Khela Hobe rolled in 2016, it was stuck in the cans for the past six years. Asked about the inordinate delay in the movie’s release, Sinha says, “We had completed post-production by the end of 2019. But due to the pandemic, we were unable to release the film in theatres.”
The project, also starring Rati Agnihotri and Mugdha Godse, is now slated to hit the marquee on June 24. The makers recently took the film to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), which greenlit it, save for one change.
The writer-director says, “In the film, Om ji’s rival is a woman. The censors objected to a scene that saw him abusing her. We had to remove the dialogue.”
Onscreen kiss between same sex actors will never be normalized-Mugdha Godse

Titas Chowdhury (HINDUSTAN TIMES; April 17, 2022)
Onscreen representation of homosexuality might have become a frequent phenomenon in Hindi films and web shows, but the hoopla surrounding it doesn’t seem to wane off. Needless to say, actor Mugdha Godse’s onscreen kiss with her co-actor Shruti Seth in the web series Bloody Brothers, which released last month, grabbed the attention of many.
“Anything like this will never be normalized,” sighs Godse, adding, “I knew it would be the talk of the town. So, making it look good was my aim.”
Ask her if she had any apprehension about shooting for the scene and she says, “There were many mixed feelings initially to perform the scene. But eventually, we became comfortable and got into our characters. Shruti had rightly said, ‘performance triumphed discomfort’.”
Godse, however, shares that she isn’t open to doing bold scenes that are intended to only grab eyeballs. “In our cinema, many makers put bold scenes to amp up the masala quotient. Very few do it with real aesthetic sense,” she says, adding, “I’m not up for nudity or too many bold scenes. Comfort is important while performing any scene.”
And while filming such intimate scenes, being surrounded by a safe and trustworthy crew is paramount for the 35-year-old. “For instance, in Bloody Brothers, our crew was not only trustworthy, but super helpful and kind, too. Shaad (Ali, director) knew what exactly he wanted and he designed the scene [in such a way that] discomfort took a back seat,” she elaborates.
With the changing landscape in the Indian content scenario, Godse’s glad that filmmakers are ready to accept actors like her in lead roles. “My priorities as an actor remain the same. What have changed are cinema and the film industry. Tall, dusky and non-commercial faces are not cast as vamps only today,” she signs off.
Who said older actors don’t get work? I had eight projects in two years-Rahul Dev

Juhi Chakraborty (HINDUSTAN TIMES; September 27, 2021)
Age and work volume for actors are inversely related, at least that’s the common notion. However, for Rahul Dev, the same rules do not apply. The actor, who turns 53 today, says his career has never been better.
“People say, ‘Harr saal umar ke sath kaam kam hota hai’. All these perceptions and beliefs that if you age, there might not be roles for you, do not apply to me,” Dev says, adding, “I’ve been working in places all over the country. Who said older actors don’t get work? I had eight projects in the last two years. Ab main kya bolun.”
At a time when the pandemic slowed down the entertainment industry, the actor is grateful that his career remained untouched. “Professionally, it’s been the perfect year for me. I’ve been shooting every single day, which is unusual at a time when people are sitting at home without work,” Dev says.
And while birthdays are all about growing old, Dev is proud of his age and doesn’t believe in hiding it. “I’ve made no bones about my age. It’s out there online, unlike those actors who hide it. Everybody knows exactly how old I am. It doesn’t matter as long as you’re healthy,” he muses.
As for his celebration plans, the actor is going to spend his day with partner Mugdha Godse, and his spiritual master, who’s flown to India. “It’s a lucky birthday for me. Somebody visiting me from overseas in the pandemic is like some conspiracy by the universe. I’m so thankful to my spiritual master for this. Mugdha and I are going to be with him,” he signs off.
Marriage is a beautiful institution, but it may not be for everyone-Mugdha Godse

Bishwabijoy Mitra (BOMBAY TIMES; August 2, 2021)
Life has been like a beautiful holiday for model-turned-actress Mugdha Godse during the last one year. The actress, who was in Kolkata to shoot a bilingual film recently, not only enjoyed staying at home, working out, binge-watching and indulging in occasional social media lives, but, according to her, it was also probably the best time she has spent with her partner, actor Rahul Dev. Excerpts from a chat..
You have been in a live-in relationship with Rahul for over seven years now. How do you tackle those uncomfortable personal questions about marriage and relationships?
Due to our profession, people would ask such questions about our lives. We are both happy in our space. I think being happy is more important than signing a piece of paper. Marriage is a beautiful institution, but it may not be for everyone. So, when people ask me, I be honest, as I’ve seen honesty is the best policy. Rahul and I are both busy with our work and we share so many common things despite our differences. I am a morning person and he is a night person, but I think our struggle and profession bind us together. We are both first-generation actors from middle-class families, so we share similar views of life and backgrounds. Besides, we follow a spiritual guru and that is another way to bond.
Both Rahul and you have been into fitness. Tell us about your workout regimes.
To me, Rahul and fitness are almost synonymous. He has been sporting a six-pack since the time it was not even a trend, but a novelty in Bollywood. On the other hand, being a model and actor, I too have to follow a strict fitness regime. However, our fitness regime and exercises are completely different. I am more into ashtanga yoga, while Rahul is into gym-oriented exercises. But we like to discuss and talk about it.
What did the pandemic teach you? Any new skills you’ve picked up last year?
A lot. Even though we were having a good time at home, Rahul and I were particularly bothered about the household chores. However, we managed somehow. I have learnt that nothing is greater than the blessing of God.
When there’s a crisis, neither money nor contacts can save you.
During the lockdown, I also started cooking for the first time and did all the household work. I learnt to cook quite a few Punjabi dishes and I am getting better at it.
You mentioned about creating some social media content during the lockdown. During that time, social media had become quite volatile and controversial. How did you approach it?
We should always remember that whatever we say, influences a lot of people. So, when you are saying something you better make sense and you must believe in it. It’s okay to raise your voice against something, but it is also important to keep quiet unless required to do so otherwise.
So many actors were under tremendous mental pressure during the lockdown due to dearth of work. How did you cope with it?
I am the kind of person who keeps her plan-B ready for every situation. So, frustration doesn’t come to me so easily. And then I have my yoga and spiritual classes, which helped me a lot.
Since Fashion in 2008, how much has the industry changed?
Both technologically and content-wise, the Indian film industry has come a long way since 2008. Because of the OTT platforms, the fine line between commercial cinema and art films is disappearing. Films like Thappad and Pink are being made. Now almost every other film revolves around a woman. And I am glad to be a part of the industry at this point.

Arbaaz Khan on headlining Return Ticket After 30 Years, a human drama which sees rape survivor seek justice after three decades
Uma Ramasubramanian (MID-DAY; January 16, 2021)
Arbaaz Khan will soon begin shooting for Return Ticket After 30 Years, marking his first project post the pandemic. The Nishant G K Ranjan-directed venture sees him play a supportive husband to wife Kavita, a rape survivor, who fights for justice after three decades.
The actor believes that the human drama tells an important story in a country where the wheels of justice are infamously slow. “We have often heard how rape survivors do not get justice, and are unfortunately blamed by society. I’m hoping this film will be helpful in [changing] people’s mindset,” he says.
Gurleen Chopra essays the role of the survivor, whose son takes it upon himself to bring the long-drawn-out case to its rightful end. “My character Manmohan, [who is initially unaware of his wife’s past], sees her being bitter over the years. But when he learns of the reality, he stands by her and tries to understand the unfathomable agony and distress she had to go through,” says Khan, adding that the movie tackles victim-shaming. “The challenging part for my character is to be a pillar of support to his wife and accept her son while dealing with society’s [misplaced] judgment.”
Shweta Tiwari, Adhyayan Suman and Mugdha Godse play pivotal roles in the movie.

Rahul Dev on the 14-year difference between him and Mugdha Godse
Akash Bhatnagar (MUMBAI MIRROR; March 7, 2020)
In 2015, actress-model Mugdha Godse confirmed that she was in a relationship with Rahul Dev. “Mugdha and I are in a relationship. Both our families and even Rina’s (Rahul’s late wife) family, whom I’m still extremely close to, know about it. She lives with my parents when we’re in Delhi. Even my son knows that we’re dating,” the 44-year-old actor had told Mirror earlier (January 27, 2017).More recently, Rahul was on the show Pro Music Countdown, when he took stock of the relationship. The actor, who was last seen on the Hindi big screen in Mubarakan (2017), said that after losing his wife to cancer in 2009, he took some time off to focus on their son, Sidhant. Soon after, he met Mugdha at a friend’s wedding, and everything changed. “It wasn’t love at first sight, but we became friends. We hung out through all the ceremonies and bonded well. Then, we started meeting frequently and fell madly in love,” he says.
Addressing the 14-year age-gap between them, Rahul admits having reservations about it initially. “But I realised my parents were 10 years apart. So, it isn’t that big a gap for me. Also, I believe if you’re happy, age difference and everything else shouldn’t be an issue,” he reasons, harking back to one of the most difficult phases of his life.
Rahul married Rina, his childhood sweetheart, when he was 24. Their son, Sidhant, was 11 when she succumbed to cancer. He took a break from work to take care of him. “The break was totally worth it. Sidhant has grown up to be a wonderful young man. We love spending time together, but I also respect his need for space,” he laughs.
Aftab Shivdasani ties the knot for the second time with Nin Dusanj in Sri Lanka

Actor to renew vows with wife Nin Dusanj today at a resort in Sri Lanka with close friends and family in attendance
Avinash Lohana (MUMBAI MIRROR; August 29, 2017)
Last Thursday, actress and mum-to-be Esha Deol took the pheras— this time just three instead of the traditional seven— as she re-married businessman-husband Bharat Takhtani in a Sindhi-style Godh Bharai ceremony. Now, Mirror has learnt that Aftab Shivdasani is in Sri Lanka to get married for the second time.
He will get hitched with Brit-born Indian model, Nin Dusanj, whom he had tied the knot with at a private ceremony on June 11, 2014. Three years later, the couple will renew their vows in a big, fat wedding at a venue three-and-a-half hour away from Colombo airport. One hears that apart from their families, including veteran actor Kabir Bedi who is married to Nin’s elder sister Parveen, Aftab’s buddies like Vatsal Seth, as also members of the Mumbai Heroes team of the celebrity cricket league that he is a member of, will be a part of his baarat. Actress Mugdha Godse, who is dating Rahul Dev, was uploading pictures from the coastal paradise and salivating over “wood apple with a funky smell” without making any mention of the hush hush occasion.
It was obvious that Aftab’s friends had been sworn to secrecy and persuaded to switch off their cell phones. So, while no one was willing to comment on the subject, Mirror did learn that the venue for the wedding is a resort in the popular wedding destination of Tangalle, a large Sri Lankan town located 195 km south of Colombo. An important fishing port in one of the largest bays in the island country, it is protected from the ocean by an enclosing reef. Celebrations began on Monday, August 28, with a mehendi ceremony that kicked off at 4 pm. The guests were advised to opt for flats and other comfortable footwear since the event was hosted at a restaurant on the beach.
The wedding is scheduled to take place between 3-5.30 pm today. It will be hosted on the private lawns of the resort. The dress code is Indian wear and western formal. At 7 pm, the man and wife, with their besties and baaratis, will move indoors for the reception. The ladies are requested to look “glamorous” and the gentlemen “dapper”.
Nin was working in Hong Kong for six years as a consultant in the luxury brand industry before relocating to India in 2012. She was introduced to Aftab by common friends at an event. They got married a couple of years later in a private ceremony. It was reportedly to be followed by a more grand ceremony later. In an earlier interview to TOI, Aftab had admitted that he was in a relationship with Nin who he had met at the launch of a bookstore. “I think I just knew the moment I saw her that she is the one. Shortly after that, she also knew it,” he was quoted as saying, adding that he would be tying the knot in 2014 and crediting his “lady luck’ with his comeback and his current happy space.
He kept his word and now that he is marrying for the second time, we can only wish them another round of a happily ever after.
I am in the same space with Mugdha Godse as I was when I was married-Rahul Dev

Rahul Dev is happy that life
has given him a second chance. The actor, who was forced to take a
four-year sabbatical from work and move to Delhi to take care of his son
after his wife died of cancer, returned to showbiz only after his son
went abroad for further studies.
Fortunately, he didn't have to struggle for work as apart from films, he also bagged reality shows like Power Couple and Bigg Boss 10. Interestingly, Rahul's girlfriend Mugdha Godse stayed away from the limelight during his stay in the Bigg Boss house. “I was averse to the idea of Mugdha making an appearance. The nature of this reality show makes it sensational. I am extremely protective about my personal space and dignity,“ he explains.
Does he plan to settle down? “We are still discovering each other and meet everyday. Mentally, I am in the same space with Mugdha as I was when I was married. I have known her since 2013, but the relationship bettered organically and became purer last year. I feel truly blessed to get a second chance in life, especially in a profession as fickle as acting,“ he answers.
Meanwhile, the actor is all set to test waters in the fiction genre with Dil Boley Oberoi, a spin-off on Ishqbaaz. He will play antagonist Kaali Pratap Thakur, a strong and intense character. “It's a guest appearance, which has been scripted well. I can't devote 20 days a month to a show,“ he says.

Rahul Dev who was evicted from Bigg Boss 10 last week is a relieved man. He says he had enough of the house! “Lot of things have happened outside like demonetization. I have a company to run and several other responsibilities, that I will have to take care of now. I have a 80-year-old mother and 92-year-old father to take care of. Also, my son who is studying abroad is coming on the 19th so everything has fallen into place,” says Rahul. He, however, is glad that he who never could even boil water can now cook a good meal right from chopping vegetables to making a dish. “I cooked for 12 people for two-and-a-half days and also know to make coffee now,” he smiles.
The constant refrain about him in the house was he was lazy and could not take a stance. Even host Salman Khan called him out on that. Was he hurt by the comments? “No, because Salman always heard me out. I told him there and then, that I can’t plot and scheme, and can be entertaining to a certain extent.” However, in the next few week, Rahul perked up and even did an act spoofing Swami Om that got him a lot of applause. “Yes, but it was an act created out of a situation. And that’s what I do for a living,” he shrugs it off. As for Salman, Rahul says he has been extremely magnanimous. “He took me to his chalet and even promised me a job,” he grins.
About him being biased and supportive of Bani against Om Swami but not Lopa, he says, “Bani is clear that she does not like Om Swami, but Lopa herself is confused. On the one hand, she says he looks at her inappropriately and on the other he is the one oiling her hair and putting her to sleep!”
What prompted him to be a part of the show? “I had taken a three-and-a-half year break from films because I lost my wife Rina and had to take care of my son. I gave importance to parenting over everything else and went back to Delhi. Now, when I had to make a comeback, Bigg Boss was the best platform to give me that visibility.”
Rahul has found love again with Mugdha Godse and the two participated in Power Couple, too. Is he planning to take their relationship to the next level? “I can’t say about marriage right now, but Mugdha is extremely special. I am glad she is a part of my life,” he says.
Salman Khan is entitled to his opinion-Mugdha Godse

And Rahul Dev’s fiancée Mugdha Viera Godse has a few of her own, some contrary ones, too!
Upala KBR (DNA; November 28, 2016)
Bigg Boss 10 host Salman Khan recently called out the show’s celebrity contestants — Rahul Dev, in particular — for being ‘boring’ and ‘lazy’ and performing tasks ‘pathetically’. Rahul took the tongue-lashing to heart, even getting into an argument with Om Swami. His fiancée Mugdha Veira Godse tells us why she feels Salman’s advice was unwarranted and why she feels Rahul did nothing wrong.
How do you find Rahul on Bigg Boss?
He is settling in, but I know his discomfort. For him, this is work and he is giving his 100 per cent to it... I do get emotional and miss him a lot, but not during Bigg Boss hour.
Salman chided him for lazing around. Your take?
I didn’t see that episode. I saw all the updates on Twitter. Having said that, I want to add that Salman is entitled to his opinion. I agree with what Rahul is doing. I feel it’s better to stay put than getting into other’s business and start a fight for no reason. The format of the show is to be interactive, only fighting and yelling is not entertainment and jokes; fun, tasks, emotions, friendship bonding laughter too, offer entertainment. And everybody (Rohan Mehra and Karan Mehra) called ‘lazy’ by Salman were very active in their tasks. Rahul, too!
Does Rahul help around the house?
He likes to relax at home since we have long hours of shooting schedules. Plus, he is not at all a kitchen guy, anyway. Rahul doesn’t even know how to boil water, but he loves his clothes and washes them personally and cleans the house. He hates clutter and his aesthetic sense is amazing!
How is Rahul’s personality in real life?
He is an honourable man, always very calm and composed. What I love about him is that he is as straightforward as it can get. He is very clear and focused in his thoughts and acts. There is no confusion in his head about anything. He knows what he wants. Rahul is my center of gravity and my fashion meter...
Do you think he can win?
He definitely can, but Lopamudra, Gaurav and Manu are strong contenders, too. I doubt he would like to go down that road just for a win...
Was it a bad decision for him to go on the show?
No, no, not at all! People have only seen the calm side of him. The angry and funny side to him he is gradually revealing. Rahul can be extremely humorous and his fight with Om Baba showed us that. Even saying tatti jalebi… humoured all of us and made us laugh.
Why did Rahul go on the show? Was it for his son’s education?
He has his reasons and yes, one of them, was his son Siddharth’s education. He is studying abroad and Rahul needs the money to support his education.
Would you go on Bigg Boss?
Never! I am an extremely emotional person and will be worse than Mona. I will just go on crying and only crying (laughs)… It’s not my cup of tea at all. I can’t retaliate or fight like they do on the show. I used to be like that but not anymore as I am into yoga, meditation and spiritualism. But then again — you can never say never!
What do you think of the other contestants? Who is your favourite apart from Rahul?
My favourite was Lokesh. I found her very clean-hearted but came across as yedi. It’s a Marathi term for a ‘sweet fool’. She may not be able to speak well and come across as weird but I know how it is when you lack words to express yourself. I’m from a Marathi medium school and it took me a lot to learn English and Hindi fluently so I can understand what she went through... The rest — Bani, Gaurav, Rohan and Karan are good. On Om Swami I will say no comments. The rest of the housemates I couldn’t care much to watch as I find them all noise makers.
When are you and Rahul getting married?
Do you mean when are we signing the legal paper for our relationship? (laughs) Because I feel married in my head already... I don’t know when we will sign the piece of paper to legalise our relationship. For me, it’s just a formality. Marriage, to me, is just a legal bond.
What are you working on now?
I’m working on two web series and both have interesting concepts. I am looking for good content on TV. I want to do good roles. Cinema is changing and I would like to be part of that change as well. Films-wise, I am yet to find a script which really can tap me as an actress. Post Fashion, I haven’t found any.

Renuka Vyavahare (BOMBAY TIMES; June 19, 2015)
While model-turned-actor
Mugdha Godse had acknowledged to us last year that
Rahul Dev is 'somebody I can count on; he's more than a friend to me',
the two haven't really talked about their relationship or showed up
together at public events so far. That, however, seems to have changed
now, since Mugdha recently shared a picture with Rahul on her social
media account. The photo shows the couple relaxing by the pool. Though
she herself posted the picture, when contacted, Mugdha preferred to keep
things under wraps.

Valentine's Day is over but the fever goes on for a long time. If you suffered from the blues because you're single, don't fret. We have some Bollywood celebs sharing insights on why being single rocks. They also have some tips to lift up your mood this Valentine weekend
Urmimala Banerjee (MID-DAY; February 15, 2015)
Flowers, chocolates, candle-light dinners and hopefully solitaires, Valentine's Day has become an occasion filled with great excitement and sense of celebration. It is a particularly gala time for couples, who do a lot of advance planning about what to gift, where to dine and how to dress for that 'special day'.
In such a situation, it's not unusual for singles to feel down and depressed. However, being single is not as bad as it seems. If, you don't believe us, we have some single B-Town celebs to vouch for it. And that's not all. We also have them dole out tips on how to make your Valentine weekend a truly exciting and a fun-filled one.
Varun Dhawan, actor
Being single is a lot of fun. One can always enjoy oneself as long as it does not hurt anyone.
Tip: I would tell every single guy to have fun, flirt and enjoy life to the fullest. After all, we live only once.
Nimrat Kaur, actor
I feel it rocks to be single — you don't take yourself for granted. I find that very sexy as you celebrate yourself a lot more. Also, it's easier to re-invent and explore yourself when you are single.
Tip: Though I am single, I never felt the blues on Valentine's Day. I am always excited about it. I feel that singles shouldn't drown themselves in self-pity. Instead, they should try and do something special for their loved ones. Love need not only be for a partner, it can be for a mentor or friend too.
Amy Jackson, actor
Being a strong, independent single woman on Valentine's Day is actually super sexy. You are confident enough to stand on your own two feet and love yourself. Raise a toast to girl power!
Tip: Plan a weekend movie and dinner date, but do it with a twist. Invite your gal pals over and make your own personalised cocktails and nibbles and then head out for the infamous 50 Shades of Grey movie.
Neha Dhupia, actor
I feel being single is awesome. Your time is 100 per cent yours. Plus, you can have loads of friends and go on as many dates as you want. I am not advocating promiscuity, but I know people who are in relationships yet behave like they're single. At least, as a single person, you're true to yourself. And that's a nice feeling.
Tip: Nothing lifts up your mood more than some fine wine, a great meal and company of good friends and family. You don't need to be in a relationship for this. So, head out for a nice dinner or brunch.
Sarah Jane Dias, actor
Single people have more freedom as compared to those who are dating. This allows them to make plans for themselves instead of two people.
Tip: Go on a holiday on your own and discover yourself!
Kriti Sanon, actor
I think it's amazing to be single. It allows you to focus on yourself and do things what you have always wanted to, be it read, travel or paint. It means a lot more 'me time'. You can catch up with your old friends, have sleepovers with your girlfriends and go anywhere anytime.
Tip: I think Valentine's Day is just about celebrating love. Go out with your closest friends or family. Pamper yourself with a nice meal and spa treatment. Make sure your near and dear ones have a great time. It will make you truly happy.
Swara Bhaskar, actor
I would tell every single person not to feel sad over Valentine's Day. It is a day that we designed to make couples feel wonderful and singles wistful! Singles can always do some fun things to raise their spirits.
Tip: Organise a reunion with your school or college buddies. If there's anything that can beat romance it is old friendships and memories of childhood bonhomie. I am sure there are some singles lurking among old friends too. You can also celebrate your single status with a fun bash that has flirtatious games that singles can play without feeling guilty. Couples can join the party only if they bring a single friend with them. You can also encourage your mom and dad to celebrate V-Day in their own manner.
Esha Gupta, actor
God loves those who love themselves, so we should make it an occasion for us.
Tip: I think people should treat themselves to a good spa treatment. An excellent massage is the perfect antidote to many blues. A nice dinner with other single friends is fun too.
Mohit Marwah, actor
The best thing about being single is perhaps the fact that you are not answerable to anyone. You do what you wish all the time.
Tip: Guys who are single can join their buddies for a film or a nightout at a sports bar. When I was in college, I remember getting together with my other single friends and teasing those guys whose girls were giving them a hard time (no pun intended).
Prachi Desai, actor
Being single can be very liberating. You don't have to worry about breakup pains. Moreover, you can watch all the romantic films you want to without someone commenting. And you can wear what you want.
Tip: Just think how lucky you are to be able to spend some quality alone time as opposed to fussing over your partner. So, go ahead and pamper yourself.
Rana Daggubati, actor
The word 'single' and its association is always a merry one. It's because you are not really responsible or pulled up by someone else. That's a great feeling to have.
Tip: Trust me, singles are there in this world for a reason. And it's a great space to be in.
Elli Avram, actor
Being single is one of the most underrated pleasures of life. It gives you time to reconnect with yourself and do all the things you love.
Tip: Just spend your weekend doing something that you enjoy the most. You will feel great.
Mugdha Godse, actor
You find love when you're ready for it. It is great to be in love, but it's lovely being single as well. You need not rack you brains on what to gift and you can be happy in your own space.
Tip: There is nothing better than having a quiet day to rejuvenate. So, don't fret.
Kanika Kapoor, singer
Being single is very cool as you have all the independence you want. You are free to lead your life in your own way. It's a beautiful feeling. Also, as a single person you can look forward to finding love, which is pretty thrilling.
Tip: I feel people should be happy irrespective of whether they're single or in a relationship. It's a state of mind, after all.
Zareen Khan, actor
It's great to be in love, but at times it's good to be single and be your own boss. Being single is great as you are not answerable to anyone. It's great not to live by V-Day rules.
Tip: It's nice to only think of oneself while shopping and spend time with family.
Mika Singh, singer
I feel that being single allows me to concentrate solely on my work, which is pretty crucial in an industry like ours. Also, it lets me lead my life the way I want to. The best part of being single is that I can entertain other couples on Valentine's Day. This would not be possible if I had a girlfriend.
Tip: A single guy can use Valentine's Day or the weekend as an opportunity to strike up a friendship with a girl. I would tell every guy to commit to a girl only if he is serious about her.
Mugdha Godse dating Rahul Dev or Ranvir Shorey?

Vickey Lalwani (MUMBAI MIRROR; March 24, 2014)
Buzz is, Rahul Dev has found love again, but when asked if he is indeed dating Mugdha Godse, the model-turned-actor seemed confused as he mumbled, “I can’t say.”
However, he quickly added that he knows the actress pretty well since they are from the same fraternity. “We met at a fashion show last October and since then she’s been a very close friend and a well-wisher,” he said.
Rahul, who lost his wife Rina to cancer in May 2009, has been shuttling between Mumbai and Delhi. “Right now I’m in my house in Delhi since my son studies here. Life has not been easy but I still maintain my Yari Road flat too,” he sighed.
Rahul who made his debut with Champion in 2000, has done 85 films, several of them down South. “I might do an interesting role in Lara Dutta’s Chalo China next,” he revealed.
Mugdha Godse remained unavailable for comment.

Sonali Joshi Pitale (MID-DAY; March 24, 2014)
If sources are to be believed, Mugdha Godse and Ranvir Shorey, both of whom star in the reality show, Khatron Ke Khiladi, have grown closer to each other. A crewmember from the show says, “Right from the start, they have been quite comfortable with each other. Mugdha later said that she knows Ranvir from earlier as they have worked together in several films.” Now it has emerged that even though their shoot for the TV show is over, both actors have remained in touch. An onlooker says, “Mugdha and Ranvir have been spending a lot of time with each other. They were recently spotted at a famous eating joint in the suburbs. They didn’t arrive together but were seen having a long conversation.” When asked about it, Mugdha admits that Ranvir is a friend. “He and I hit it off well, just like everyone else on the show. It was a non- competitive, friendly atmosphere,” she says, refusing to divulge any more.
Ranvir, on the other hand, remained unavailable for comment.
Miss Lovely director to make a superhero film on Bahadur

Subhash K Jha (DNA; February 7, 2014)
From a film about sex sleaze scandal and self-degradation in the
horror-porn industry to an out-and-out fantasy about a super-hero, Ashim
Ahluwalia the director of the much-lauded Miss Lovely is moving on.
He is all set to do a movie version of the super-hero character Bahadur created by Abid Surti for Indrajal comics. Unlike superhero films like Ra.One and Krrish, Bahadur won’t emulate Hollywood’s superhero formula but forge its own identity.
Says Ashim. “It will be very different -
an Indrajal comic book character – which is interesting and I can relate
to.” the avant-garde director says, “When Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s
Devdas was screened at the Midnight Section of Cannes many years ago, a
section of the international press mistook it for a parody. I don’t
think with the newer Hindi films coming out now, we are in the same
situation. A film like Miss Lovely will now release in France, Japan and
in the US in April. That’s a huge shift – and it will be amazing that
they will get to see “our” India and not just the Slumdog Millionaire
version.”
Incidentally every prominent actress from Mallika Sherawat to Mugdha Godse turned down the film. Laughs Ashim, “Most of them were outraged or scandalized because they thought it was an actual C grade film. They couldn’t understand the idea the the film could be “set” in the C grade industry without actually being a sleaze film itself. One actress even threatened to lodge an FIR against us.” Surely, they are all regretting their decision now.
