Former Bigg Boss contestant, Mandana Karimi has signed on for a horror comedy, Coca Cola, in which she plays a character with shades of grey. The Prasad Tatineni-directorial features Sunny Leone in the lead. “I bagged the film after several rounds of auditions. I haven’t done a film for almost a year and a half,” says a relieved Mandana.Produced by Mahendra Dhariwal and Paramdeep Singh Sandhu, the film rolls with a start-to-finish schedule in Noida in June. “I can’t tell you much except to say I’ve never done anything like this before. I’ve lost a lot of weight and will have short hair,” she informs, saying she met Sunny on Bigg Boss and has done a couple of events with her. “She’s lovely, we both have a huge surprise for you guys.”
After films like Kya Kool Hai Hum 3, Main Aur Charles and Roy, Mandana took a break from acting due to personal issues. “At the peak of my career, when everything was going great, I got married and my husband (Gaurav Gupta) didn’t want me to work. Things didn’t work out and we split. Now, I’m back to work and can’t wait to start shooting. I’ve missed this,” she exults.

Mandana Karimi, a Bigg Boss 9 contestant, has filed a case of domestic violence against husband Gaurav Gupta and his family six months into their marriage. The couple got hitched in January in what she had described as a “surreal court marriage” (January 28) followed by a star-studded reception. The Iranian model-actor had been dating the Mumbai-based entrepreneur for over two years. On their third anniversary, he’d popped the question at a five-star in Shillim. The romance, however, seems to have faded away since, with Mandana alleging that Gaurav’s family forced her out of their marital home.
When prodded on why she was thrown out, she revealed that after an argument with her husband, she had gone to a friend’s to cool down. “When I returned, they wouldn’t let me enter and have stopped communicating with me,” she said.
She went on to inform that she has been kept out of her home for seven weeks now. “I’ve been staying with friends or in a hotel, it’s been really tough. Where will I get the money to survive?” she questioned. When asked about her family, she pointed out that they live in Iran and though they have been a constant support, they’re unable to fly to Mumbai to be with her. “Some of my friends have come down but my family is not here and I don’t have a place to stay. I am not in touch with anyone from Bigg Boss so I don’t think any of them are aware of my plight,” she sighed.
Before she settled for marital bliss, Mandana had featured in Ekta Kapoor’s sex comedy, Kya Kool Hain Hum 3 in a lead role, as also in films like Roy, Bhaag Johnny and Main Aur Charles. “But I stopped working after marriage at my husband’s behest. Gaurav wouldn’t agree to me acting in films or doing television so I stopped working completely after Bigg Boss and chose to work on my marriage and relationship. It wasn’t the smartest option,” she admitted.
In an interview to a daily earlier in the day, she claimed that she had converted for the wedding which took place according to Hindu rituals. Her complaint states that she was forced to convert. It was a pre-condition to her getting married even though it was completely against her wishes.
According to her, trouble started when her mother-in-law, Madhu Gupta, realised that her son was planning to move out of the family home and separate the business and reportedly told Gaurav to choose between Mandana and her.
But the model-actress, who alleges that she was constantly insulted and abused by her mother-in-law, still wants to return to the house. “I didn’t leave my house, I love it. I haven’t been allowed to enter the house or even my husband’s office but that doesn’t mean I should get divorced. I am still his wife, I love Gaurav,” she asserted, adding. “I haven’t filed for divorce, I have only filed a domestic violence case.”
By her own admission, Gaurav had gone out of his way to woo her. “I never expected it to end up as a horror story,” she sighed. “You never expect things will turn bad when you are in love. Unfortunately, that’s what happened to me.”
Mirror tried to get in touch with Gaurav Gupta, his brother Gautam and mother Madhu. While Gautam chose not to respond to our many calls and messages, Madhu texted back saying, “Sorry I can’t talk right now.”

Mandana Karimi, who got
married to Mumbai-based busi nessman Gaurav Gupta in January this year,
has accused her husband and his family of domestic violence. The actress
and reality TV star has also filed for divorce.
Amidst other allegations, the divorce petition states that Gaurav forced her to convert from Islam to Hinduism ahead of their wedding. She was also asked to quit acting. Mandana claims that she has now been barred from entering her marital home.
Talking to BT, she says, “My husband fell in love with me because I am a strong and independent woman, but I didn't know that Indian mothers-in-law are so controlling. I quit acting as my husband didn't want me to pursue it after marriage. I now realise that listening to him was my biggest mistake. I want to tell women not to quit work after marriage. I wanted mine to be a happy marriage, but I have been harassed. Now, I have been thrown out of my matrimonial house and I'm left with no money.“

Post marriage also, I was kept in the matrimonial house in Juhu as a prisoner. It was a big house and we all lived together as a joint family. It was my shared household and I was in a domestic relationship with all the Respondents. I was not given any privacy or any say in my own matrimonial house. I was not allowed to work. The Respondent No. 2 (Madhu Gupta, Gaurav's mother) continued with her insulting nature towards me. I was not allowed to meet my friends outside nor was allowed to have my friends in my matrimonial house.
I was going through depression at this juncture of my life. The Respondent No. 1 (Gaurav) told me that he intended to stay with me separately in their flat in Juhu. The Respondent No.1 told me that in order to avoid complications, fights and confrontations at home I should forthwith leave the matrimonial house. The Respondent No. 1 told me that he would immediately terminate the leave and licence agreement with the licensee and that he would move us into the flat... I didn't have any support system in Mumbai and my family was far away in Iran. Respondent No. 1 sent two bags filled with some of my old clothes leaving behind my jewellery, engagement ring and expensive belongings like watches, perfumes, shoes, dresses, wedding clothes/dresses, cosmetics etc. For quite a few days I continued to stay in the hotel. The Respondent No. 1 then told me that the process of vacating the licensee from the Juhu flat may take some time and that in the meantime I should go to Iran and stay with my family. The moment I left for Iran, the Respondent No. 1 reduced his interaction with me. I also learnt from some of our common friends that Respondent No. 1 had tricked me out of my matrimonial house with no intention of having me back in his life.
I was shocked and I immediately returned to India. I tried to contact Respondent No. 1, but he avoided to meet me. I thus visited my matrimonial house but was not allowed to enter my room which was locked and the security was directed to remove me out of my own matrimonial house. I thus again contacted the Respondent No. 1.The Respondent No. 1 met me and told me to stay in one Hotel in Bandra. By now, I had realised that the Respondents had conspired to just get rid of me and drive me out of my matrimonial house and also divest me of all my rights.
I have now come on roads and has been left without anything. I have been subjected to gross cruelty and harassment and have been put into severe pain and agony. I have been cheated and used as a commodity as per their whims and fancies.

Shrugs off the bashing on social media for running down Lopamudra Raut on a reality show, says the latter is giving her too much importance
Natasha Coutinho (MUMBAI MIRROR; January 28, 2017)
Iranian actress-model Mandana Karimi tied the knot with long-time beau Gaurav Gupta on Thursday. She describes it as a “surreal court marriage” that took place in the presence of close friends who she knows in Mumbai. Her family couldn’t attend it and the honeymoon hasn’t been planned yet. “We might have a big party but I didn’t want it to turn into a media circus with our wedding pictures going out. A wedding should be a private affair,” asserts the former Bigg Boss contestant who stirred up a controversy when she went on the sets of the reality show last Wednesday.
The outspoken Mandana lashed out at Lopamudra Raut, one of the four finalists in season 10, comparing her to an obnoxious inmate, Swami Om, who was hauled out of the house after a disgusting act that had the viewers squirming, while expressing support for co-contestant Bani Judge. Lopa’s fans since have been on a Mandana bashing spree on social media, not even sparing her on her wedding post.
“When I was on the show I never cared what other people thought of me. I don’t know Lopa personally but what she said about Bigg Boss is not right. Her claims that she’s represented her country as a former Miss India yet Bigg Boss does not show support for her simply proves that she’s insecure. Also, she took my words too seriously thereby giving me too much importance,” Mandana retorts, pointing out that she wouldn’t get ruffled if someone ran down her appearance care if anyone but would simply thank them for their opinion and do what she believed was right.
She points out that her co-contestants from season 9, Rishabh Sinha and Rochelle Rao who are criticising her today for her comments on Lopamudra, were themselves politically correct on the show. “They never stood up for themselves. The competition was only between Prince and me,” she states. Prince won that season.
